If you plan on O/C your cpu on this mobo, it is STRONGLY advised to get good air flow over ALL motherboard components. Especially if you are using water cooling like me. The passive cooling solution from Asus for the chipsets is designed to have air flowing of the sides of a CPU fan, when you remove this fan - then you should put something else in its place to give the desired effect. Example - you could put a large fan on the side grill pushing air onto the mobo surface. ;) and exhaust fan at the back of the case helps a lot too.

Personally, I would'nt worry too much about 60 C temps, I've had mine all day on 70 C , no problems.

Bug in the Bios.... download new bios version from Asus!

I had the same problem with my Mobo (p5wd2).... temps read from 53c to 71c (almost red-lining using AI NOS) with the ambiant temps at 37c, and those were temps at idle!!! :slapass:

After changing the Heat Sink from the intel, Original 775 Cooling Fan to a "Big Typoon" (aftermarket purchase) and changing the termal greese to a "Artic Sliver 5" (aftermarket purchase) and changing the 80mm case fans to 120mm case fans (all three of them) I got temps down to read 49c to 55c, with the abiant still at 37c!

AGAIN, WAY TO HOT! SOME MIGHT CONSIDER THIS OK, BUT NOT ON A $2,500.00 MACHINE THAT I JUST PUT TOGETHER AND CAN OC up TO 4Ghz!

I went to a few different forums and got the news that the bios version I was using was not capturing the correct temps! They told me to download the new version, It can be found here.....

http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

after the download of the new version, got got temps that read 37c to 45c

and I lived happyly ever after.... until the new version of windows comes out then I will be back here again...

laters

Sorry for the off topic question.
What is the temp that a P4 6xx throttles?
