Haha. I was goofing around and so I wondered how low I could get my Video card to score in 3dMark2001. Basically, doing anything to cripple the card and make it perform like crap. (without doing physical damage)
I'll post my results tonight. It's soooooo funny. :p:
Anyone want to take me on in a competition? :fact:

That's easy enough, force it to run in Software emulation and then underclock your cpu.

But the diffeculties starts, when all are doing it.
Then the fight seriously begins, taking out an exstra MHZ. :p:

Not even close.
ok. first of all, No CPU Mhz Throttling or clocking! That's a must. I'll put this togther better when I think about it.
This is stricktly a GPU based competition. You can mod the detail as you like (since if you lower the detail, you increase your score, so that doesn't work very well in this scenario :slobber: )
You may use any GPU modding tools, such as Rivatuner for Nvidia. Underclocking your card is accepted and for most, necessary to get your score as low as possible. Also, to be fair, no software emulation or any kind of CPU limitations. If you do this right, your video card should be crippling your processor anyway. Another big rule: YOUR CARD MUST BE DIRECTX 8.1 CAPABLE IN ORDER TO COMPETE IN THIS COMPETITION!!!!
Also, ABSOLUTELY NO SCRIPT HACKING OF THE PROGRAM! Intentionally lowering your score by modding the core program is strictly forbidden. This should all be GPU/ GPU driver based.
When done, provide proof through ORB or screenshot.
Here's my 3DMark2001 score:
1153 on a 6800 GT :slobber:

I'll post how I got here later on tonight. This was also my first attempt so I expect to get it somewhat lower once I'm done. :woot:

This was done for an underclock contest and I got 5th place with this score. The guy who won it got 1 mark
Very difficult to get these type of results. Believe me :)

The best "low score" thing you can see is to go to the ORB for 3dmark03 and select the Geforce 4 MX440.
You can get on the first page if you get more than 32 points :D
Beat that.

i just tried a 3dmark01 run on this rig (my internet rig) with a 1.8ghz P4 512mb
and a geforce 3 Ti 500 clocked at 199/400mhz.
i'm sure somethings wrong with this rig when it comes to 3d mark it seems to give
me hugely diffrent scores each run even with the same settings...
with the card underclocked to 199/400 and the agp transfer rate set to 2x i got about
4200 marks but all the tests went blue an other random colours and lost all texture
oh well try again...
Ed
|EDIT| underclocked to 125/315 i got 2575

Another thing that'll help will be running a WHOLE BUNCH O' CRAP in the background! Compress some .rars, encode a DVD (or two!), put priority on uberlow, etc.
Just trying to help all...

underclock everything, run 20 things in the background, turn on aa/af and bench away, youll get a few hundred marks then. Its much more fun to get the highest score

make a quick program that allocates 2 x the amount of RAM you have in your system, then throw your cpu into a repeating sequence of non-registered operations.

I would. The term extreme, to me, doesn't have to be used strictly with something positive, since it's a subjective term.
As it is, I don't enjoy seeing a computer chug, especially my own. So I won't be participating.

No, you don't have a DX8.1 capable card. Nature didn't run.
....lol....the rig that i use to GAME on gets a 2000....without doing anything to it....yet amazingly it runs doom 3 flawlessly at defualt settings :?:

Ok. I'll decide on a few responses to this post.
PLEASE VOTE IN YOUR NEXT POST. PLEASE ANSWER TO MY QUESTION POSTED BELOW
Yes or No: Do we want to limit resolution to 1024 x 768, or higher? I guess we have to set a resolution marker because I just got a Samsung Monitor that's capable of 2048 x 1536, so since most people don't have monitors capable of that kind of insanity (I had no idea it was capable of that until I got it home and tested it :fact: ) it's not fair to some guys with monitors that max out @ 1280 x 1024.
If you say No, Say what res you want it set at. We'll decide from there what the specs for the tests are gonna be.

Ok.... If you're joking that's fine. Otherwise, let me clarify
For 3DMark2001: You must have a DX 8.1 card.
For 3DMark03 and 05: You must have a DX9 card capable of PS2.0
IF you guys want to start a competition for lower cards, that's fine too. But a score from a total of 1 TESTS, will not be counted. :nono:

Haha! Not for the 6800 GT. Upon Boot up, my computer beeps at me profusely. I guess that's it's way of cursing me out for not connecting it's life source. :slapass:

Resolution should be limited, and the same should be with AA/AF (no AA, no AF, 1024x768 res)

Has OJDR said we have made a contest for underclocking in 03 and the winner was this guy.

They have to run all tests in 03 except cpu.
