August? Dammit... Oh well at least it's cheaper than expected.

$449 isn't too bad, it's much better then the rumored $499 mark.

I mean, if the GT is just a downclocked GTX, with a $100 difference, thats a pretty low incentive to get the GT, but at $150 price difference between the two, the GT starts to look like a much more viable alternative, without sacrificing too much.

hopefully, the price tag, doesn't mean, the 7800GT is a severly neuterd version of the GTX.

ideally, the GT should have lower NS ram, like 2.0, and clocked alittle lower, while still having SLI as a option, and 24 pipelines.
if Nvidia can do that, at $449, I will definatly be impressed.

Remember that with nvidia's new drivers, all cards support SLI and no on-board connector is needed. If you mean if it'll have a SLI connector, it would be the most likely part to do so as it will probably be based off the same core and PCB if it is indeed a lower-end gtx. Like you said though, it'll prolly have slightly slower ram and a lowered clock. This would make the most sense.

Wow, $449 almost seems like a, um, SANE price for a high-end gfx card. Props to nvidia if it's what we all hope it will be.

If it's a neutered version of the 7800 gtx, or a upped version of the vanilla, which'll prolly be 20pipes or something with DDR1 (if history repeats itself from the 6800 series), then that would just suck. It might be a 20pipe card with GDDR3, which is probably what it'd be if not a lower-end gtx, and that would just be rediculous. Here's hoping for the scaled-down gtx, and not a souped up 7800 vanilla.
