I'm in a bit of a jam, I can't find a small enough condenser to fit under my case for my small DD PC build, can someone give me tips on where I could find a small condenser, locally? I've hit up quite a few refridgeration places, but I can't seem to find anything that suits my needs. (everything they seem to stock is alot larger than I need)

Quite a few people around here and other forums make custom condensors so maybe you can pm them with your dimensions and they can help you out.

yea, if I can't find anyhting local, i'll just buy what I need from chilly, but, anyone have any ideas what I could pull a suitable condenser out of? I was thinking maybe a vehicle AC system? anyhting from msot air conditioners is sjut too big, and I really don't want to start slicing them apart, but, I might end up having to jsut do that :/
so, can anyone give me tips on where to start looking? what are the condensers chilly sells made for?

Waterfoutains often have compact condensors. Some refrigerators as well. You're not going to find anything smaller then one of chilly's though. At least everything I've pulled apart had larger.

A vehicle a/c condensor will be way to big for what your looking for.

using this as a condensor is a bad idea since it was used for water...

Bergo

yea, that would be about what I'm looking for, i'd buy one of chilly's, but if i could just find some used peice of equipment to rip it out of, then all the better, so scratch the car AC i guess, I'll try to find a water cooler, I've looked into fridges, but all the ones I've found use very large condensers, that go across the entire back of the fridge

It looks like it was made to be a condensor, just they're selling it as a radiator.

I agree it is the standard copper tubing etc and it was only used for water cooling for about 1 month and i can clean it with some R11 np.

Kayl actualy used to make his condensors from larger a/c evaps/condensors. Do a search on that....

that's not my point. My point is the radiator is used with water in it. You can clean it but I still wouldn't use it for my phase-change systems. If it was new then no problem.

use a flexible brush to clean it, and make sure to pull a deep vacuum if there would happen to be a little leftover water, and I don't see any problem with using it.

would you really want to use a condensor with corrosion and rust inside? go ahead dude but you will compromise your oil for sure. 100% cleaning is near of impossible. Why risk the whole system health for a such basic part?? It's like ppl that does not evac the system propertly then come back here for help because the system isn't working as it should...Unnessary risk imho.

Copper doesn't rust, but it does turn green with oxygen, but it wouldnt have since there would be very little o2 present when it was filled with water. Pull a 500micron vacuum on it and i'd say you'l be fine, but you may or may not be able to reach that.

Flush it with muratic acid, wash with hot soapy water then flush with acetone, pull a vac then let sit for 2 day's..she will be fine :)

I think its fine inside it I can see inside both ends and theres no rust or corrosion or anything for that matter like i said it was only used for about 1 month and thats it been sitting around for the past 9 months.

Copper dosen't but there is rust in the water itself because of the iron in it :stick:

I doubt he used tapwater. Thats just stupid since it messes up your system. Thats why people use distilled.

rust is the name of corroded iron. No other metal rusts but they can corrode. for the greenish corrosion you need water(salt or acidic water works very good) and oxygen. for the black corrosion you just need oxygen.

i'm wanting to do this with an old WC rad, where can i get hold of acetone and muratic acid? would it be something a DIY store would have?

Acetone @ Home Depot and I'm not sure about muratic acid. There are other options such as coil cleaners meant for cleaning condensor coils specifically. Just make sure your "rad" isn't a "heatercore" or you'll run into a little problem..... ;)

aye, gota make sure gravity is doing it's job with a condenser, radiators are for liquid state only, as you need to have it pumped through, most don't let the newly condensed liquid refridgerant flow to the bottom :/

It will work fine you will just need a larger charge.

yeah it's not a heatercore ;) i think it'll work fine as long as it's clean
