The only way to avoid the little cylinders is to go to a welding supply shop and get a larger oxygen cylinder probably a 20CF or a 55CF.

are they expensive and someone said i might need a license for canisters that big ?

Those little tanks are a huge rip off. Here they're like 12 bucks for 1.4 oz worth of fuel. I'd look into getting some better gear if you're going to do any serious work. Better to put the money towards a real torch then those tanks.

I'm only using the bernzomatic cause its easier, and all my brazing will be done real quick... The big stuff I bring it into work to do.

Brazed my 4 inchers at work hehe. No way a cheapomatic woulda done it. If you're gonna braze in like 10 minutes, and be done with it for good, the bernzomatic is your guy. I wouldn't make an investment into tools I was only going to use once or twice in a year.

I use a portable refillable Oxy/Acet system, Basically mini tanks with a contract for exchange of full ones. I have the larger tanks too for cutting steel, but I found the smaller kit just right and I have sucessfully used propane as well, though I find it doesn't burn over quite the range oxy/acet does. The Benzomatic ends up being a huge rip off, You can find used torches and gauges for sale pretty cheaply and new lines are around 30$ so no big deal. I have no idea what a tank contract is worth or if it's required in your area, but my contract is about $200 a year per tank set for each set of oxygen acetylene tanks. The contract pays for them to xray the tanks and test/change the valves as required in order to conform to Ministry of Transport guidelines.

Every juristiction is different when it comes to pressurized gas though.

i couldnt justify having massive cylinders. the best i found was twice the size but works out twice the price, here (http://www.diywelding.co.uk/product_details.asp?d=1&c=12&p={6C87763F-CDB0-4605-A290-DCEACFEC1E42}). This is also acetylene would using this be alot better than MAPP ?

also found some where selling cylinders similar to those bernzomatic ones but were £13.99

OXY/Acetylene combos are a lot more flexible, get hotter, are more money to buy. Disposable is cheaper up front with higher per job costs. It depends how many jobs your are going to do.

oxy/acetylene is the most flexible in terms of burning ranges with proper valaves. My existing set cuts two inch steel, no problems, 3" inch steel a little messy.

ive got to finish the system im doing now, then was thinking of doing a dual evap next and then who knows. apart from this i have no other real need for a torch.

that setup in the link uses turbo gas which says it does 3150'C (5702'F)

also found this (http://www.welduk.com/Details.asp?ProductID=369) but i'd need to source oxygen and acetylene bottles

just got another email from bernzomatic

Thank you for your enquiry regarding the Bernzomatic Welding Kit/Oxygen cylinder. Unfortunately, due to changing European Legislation (TPED), our disposable Oxygen cylinders no longer comply and therefore it is not possible for us to import them into the UK.

This legislation only affects the shipping and import. Any cylinders in the market are perfectly safe to buy and use. Our other products (Propane and MAPP) already comply.

There is currently no direct alternative product in the range. However, many light brazing applications can still be achieved with our next hottest torch, the TS539 running on MAPP gas.

looks like they gonna stop shipping them to the uk in favour of another torch
