So another one of the reasons for the lawsuit comes out... they just want their name out there. :stick:

There is no such thing as bad publicity. ;)

Tom Beermann, an Intel spokesman, said the ads were "not surprising, given the highly organized public relations campaign that AMD has embarked on":bounces:

I don't think so. I personally haven't seen an AMD commercial on the TV since the K6 generation. They hyped up 3DNOW so much back then. After that, they dissapeared from tv advertising. I don't think that they are looking for attention.

DE, did you read that they took out full-page newspaper ads in some of the most expensive markets? Why else except in the name of publicity would they do that? ;)

At any rate, I just find it funny that they felt they had to do it.

"Computer customers are interesting because they tend to be intelligent and care about what they're getting," Balto said.

Look out, he's got a brain!!!

I'd have to disagre. Based on many conversations I have had with people intrested in buying or upgrading their PC, most don't knwo the difference between a Gigabyte and a Gigahertz(edit:see what I mean...even I don't know :p) . Most people know the Intel name and want to buy it. The only way AMD is going to edge up on Intel is if Dell,Gateway,Compaq ect. push AMD based systems just as hard as they do intel now. :nono:

The way you said "gigabyte and gighert" almost makes you an oxymoron. :D
Just remember, the singular form of hertz is hertz. :stick:

HI! I'm steve, please listen to me :)

Even if AMD doesn't gain publicity, they still make money off the lawsuit, so it's win win for them

All i have to say to this is that i hope AMD wins, im sure there would be a great deal of people who would buy a prebuilt if it was infact a AMD prebuilt, People have the right to choose what they want and what intel is doing is basicly forceing there product and thats not cool. Now for the ad "wip dee doo" lol a ad isnt really gana make much of a difference in there "advertising" per say (altho it couldnt have hurt it) but i think it was more of a "Hello im here and there is more choices out there then intel :P: " just my $0.02 tho.

So another one of the reasons for the lawsuit comes out... they just want their name out there. :stick:I agree with this. Some late actions by AMD point to this. Atleast that's how I see it.

They could be using the publicity without necessarily having that be one of the main reasons of filing the lawsuit in the first place...
