As the title says. They run at the same clock speeds, so obviously i'm trying for a pipeline unlock here.
Does anyone even have a X800 256MB?
EDIT: I don't have the card, I would merely like to know b4 buying.

It most likly wont work because the x800xl uses a different core made with a different process. What kind of x800 do you have, PCI-Express or AGP?
Why dont you just flash it to a xt pe or plain xt? Is your card a vivo? We deffinitly need a little more info

I think he talking about a regular X800, not the Pro. As far as I know, you can't mod these cards.

the x800 only have 8 pipelines right? And the x800xl have 16 so that deffinitly wont work.
Another question - why do you want to flash it in the first place?

The X800 has 12 pipelines, and probably has the exact same PCB as the X800XL.
I would like to flash it to unlock the pipes.

You can't unlock it that way. You can flash a X800XL bios in it and it will probably work just fine but it wouldn't help you in any way.

Aren't X800 Pro VIVOs flashable to X800XT?
That's what I'm talking about.
Has anyone tried this yet?

Yes many people have done this with succes. The latest VIVO's are hardware locked and the X800 is too. I think I heard of a way to unlock a hardware locked VIVO before but you'll have to search for yourself.
Maybe it has a lasercut like the normal X800 pro's, some can be unlocked, some can't. Google it.

Flashing an X800Pro "VIVO" with success is by luck of the draw.
Some X800Pros are X800XTs with bad pipes. These were culled and used as X800pros.
I have tried to flash a couple of X800 Pro Vivos to Xts and ended up with checkerboards on the screen when heavly overclocked. This is due to bad pipes.
Other X800Pros will flash to X800XT successfully. You just never know.
Save you pennies and just go ahead and get an X800XT PE. :D
i got a X800pro 2 months ago, no lasercut:)
and i will have it back within 2 weeks and i'll try again offcourse:)

Same core, as you can see below, the only differens is the memory.

It has DDR1, didn't know that.
A GDDR3 bios is never going to work with a card with DDR1.

Agree
And look at the timings on the x800xt, thats not gonna survive that. And the cores are different.
So i think you have to forget the 4 pipes, i would.

So you have an X800 pro vivo?
That will work, there is a bios that I have used to test it. It is a x800 pro vivo 16pipe bios. All it does is unlock the pipes and leave the default clocks.
these are for agp
X800 Pro vivo 16pipe bios (http://www.techpowerup.com/bios/ATI.X800PROVIVO16P.256.Samsung16.040511.bin)
Heres a stock X800 vivo to revert back to (http://www.techpowerup.com/bios/ATI.X800PROVIVO.256.Samsung16.040511.bin)
you can alot of different ones to choose from at techpowerup

Ive done this to 4 different x800 pro vivos with success. Some of them couldnt hang at high clocks so I either resorted to using the x800xt bios @ 500/500 or the pro vivo 16p at stock clocks

the normal x800's are based on the same core as the x800xl and even the pcb is the exact same.
The card comes with 3 types of memory, ddr1 128mb/256mb and 256mb gddr3.
The gddr3 version mostly comes with the samsung 2.0ns chips which are good upto 550mhz, 1100 effectively but they come clocked at 390gpu and 700mem.
Even though they are exact same as the x800xl minus 1 quad of pipes but they can't be flashed to enable the other 4 pipeline.
The pipelines cant be opened cause they are disabled on die so no bios mod, hardmod or soldering will work, even the owner of Rivatuner tried to do this but he said it himself that it cant be done:(.
I know all this cause i used to have this card and i tried to do the same thing.
(soz for all the sections, broke it up in pieces because it might be easier to read and i aint the best one at explaining, let me know if no ones understands and i'll try to explain again properly:)
hope this helps:)

This is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for providing me with this info. It's a real pity though. It could have been great...
Shroom: I didn't say I had one, I said that they could be flashed. However, I've had them (X800 pro vivo) in the past and all 16 pipes opened with a simple flash.

x800pro vivo's can be unlocked if they are agp but can't on pci-e
