View Full Version : IC-7 - which mods to apply ?

Like the title says, I have an IC-7 ver.1.0 and I want to mod it so I can reach 300MHz FSB stable.
I have read ABIT IC7 – IC7-G – IC7 MAX3 ALL in one Modifications - The way to go! (http://www.thelab.gr/reviews/ic7mods_en9.php) by hipro and only did the Vchip (VDD) mod (with 15kOhm resistor), because my 15W soldering iron died when I was working on the mobo. That mod helped me going from 275MHz rock stable to 285MHz rock stable. I can do 290 with random blue screen/crash after few days and even boot at 300 but cannot go into win.

What to do next ?

I'm a little reluctant to cut the pcb for some of the mods, because if I f**k it up :), I wont be able to buy a new (or even used) mobo.
I'm open to all suggestions.

Thnx and best regards

I didn't mod my IC7 at all and I took a 2.4c to 308 fsb.
Guess it all depends on how good the board is.

Which PSU did you use ? I have a Chieftec 420W.
And how did you set your bios parameters ? When I set AGP/PCI lock at 68MHz I can boot @ 300MHz every time, but if I set it @69MHz computer sometimes boot and sometimes not, but sata hdd doesnt work.

Unfortunately your comment about quality of the board is true :(

I used a antec 550w power supply, pci/agp was always at 33/66
