View Full Version : My FX-57 benches at 3800MHz!

I put my FX-57 on my PCIce -90C cascade yesterday.
It took a while to figuer out but I got it running, the only problem at these temps is the memory controller. The colder the chip the less memory speed I can obtain. I'm limited to around 230 Max when the Cascade is at -90C.
Gunna do some more this weekend and see what we can do.
Here's the bugger doing 3D05 at 224x 17 = 3800Mhz.

hmm. well that sucks the mem controller cant take it... funny how the mem controller is the a64's biggest asset but also its biggest hinderance for overclocking...

Yea, the mem controller problem is a complete bummer. I hope there are chips out there that can handle the cold.

that is a fast cpu opp, but the controller are bummer, the 230mhz of the rams are killing the business
and well done opp, like always :toast:

oh my god :slobber: :slobber: real impressive your fx57 OPP
at which temperature you have the coldbug problem?
thank you ;)

opp if you try it with ln2 and control the temps you maybe can reach higher mem speed
a question what is better insane cpu speed or something more slow but 1:1
Opp, does 2x 256MB of mem give the same results as 2x 512mb?
half a gig of mem is lesser strain on the memory controller that one whole gig, maybe at -90 it's makes the difference :)

any chance of a cpu-z screenie? :D
Totally sick overclock :toast:

Congrats on awesome cpu clock. Hope the future version cpu would eliminate cold issue.
What realy bugs meis your 7800's. Are those on just regular WC? no pelts? Realy crazy oveclock

With ther reduced bandwidth is it slower than your Fx-55 at 3600+ in 3dmark Opp ?

how many volts are you pushing in her?

Andy,
considering that eric had to run the SD at 233 memory instead of 270mhz I'd say that 200mhz is entirely negated for 3d01.

In 05 running at 3800MHz is better, not sure about 03.
But in 2001, it is terrible with the low Bandwidth:D

opp, which is the stepping?
0512, 0513, 0522?
for the low fsb u think it's the same problem for all?
I'll see with my tests
Sick CPU you got there
But about that mem controller :slapass: Never heard of anything like that, did those problems appear an other SD/Venice as well?

Works under normal temps sometimes, maybe just gotta re-train the mem ctlr? (Just WAG - couldn't hurt to try  )
And nice stuff anyway Opp...

Seen lotsa results with these on air, nice to see some really cool results :)
Hopefully we get some more poeple with these soon who have them under dice/cascade/ln2 to see if all of them have "cold hinderances"
Eric
You need to weaken the drive from the memory controller, as the CPU cools the drive increases and starts to overdrive the ram...this is why the FSB is limited the colder you go.
What we need is Oskar showing us where the dram dive strength resistors are on the board so we can change them to POTS, this way we could dial in a higher resisitance so weakening the drive.

Nice, Eric you have a shot at taking highest SS on AMD if you can pull a 4Ghz screenie.

Suicide Screenies don't do much for me these days. I'm just not into them for some reason. I tend to like Highest actual Benchable clocks, for what ever reasons. I use to be into the screen shots, not sure what happened to my attitude about them.

Not a problem, its a record that you could possibly reach.
A lot of people here would love to see it from you as well as a Superpi at that speed.

Did i hear SuperPi ???
Oh yeah! Eric, run some SPi, please :) You could probably take top spot for 32M with that chip :D
At this moment, 3.71Ghz on FX-57 is as good as it gets on AMD and 32M...
... and of course, excellent work on OCing that chip  ...as usual... :)

Which is why I am not posting 2 much until I can get a 32m Spi (yes) and an OCCT test done (working on it now, danm sucker's fightin me).
Opps 3G 'fun machine' gave me the incentive to get where I am almost there (300x10)
So when ya going to try some really low drive strengths OPP ? :D
