Hello all :D
I want to build a new system with a dothan cpu (i got a very cheap brand 730 and i'll give it a try...).
I need some help because i want "the perfect" system and buy the right components...
What's best: P4P800 SE or -E Deluxe or P4C800-ED ?
What's the best memory for this system?
I currently own a A64 system with some TCCD memory from A-Data.
(KN8 NEO 2 with 3200+ Winchester --> boring! i need some fun for this summer and dothan looks good...)
Any advice will be useful, thank you very!

Go for the P4C800-E deluxe.
And i would look for some low latency ram.

Although the P4C is a great mobo, it is $170.00. That is stupidly high for any S578 motherboard. I would go with the P4P800-SE for $89.00 that has sata RAID 1/0 onboard.
Dothans love low latency. A DDR booster and some Mushkin Redline would be spectacular for this application. I got some TCCD since I am chicken to run all that voltage 24/7 by use of a vmod. DDR booster might come later, but not likely.
Note: you an vmod the board. see the above thread of the dothan how-to. But its safer to use some TCCD or a DDR Booster.
You will also need a CT-479 adapter:

I would go with a Pentium M 730 since they arent too expensive and boot with 200 FSB easily.
Here (http://froogle.google.com/froogle?price1=200&price2=280&btnP=Go&q=Pentium+M+730&price=between)
Note: you will need to borrow soemones S478 chip to flash the BIOS to the Dothan supporting BIOS. I am going to the computer shop down the road to do mine.

Thank you both :)
Well, i already have 1 P4C800-ED here at home in my little sister pc...
It was from my previous system. (P4C800-ED + P4 2.4C)
I'll buy an used P4P800 SE or P4P800-E Deluxe and i was asking which one should i use for the dothan system. From what i read it looks like that they're are both good but i'll stick with P4C for me :D
About the ram i'm not sure what to expect from TCCD in an intel system limited to 2.85v... Maybe i can get OCZ DDR Booster in the future and change my mems if necessary. I'm not good doing mods so i won't use any of them :p:
Mushkin Redline are very expensive here... What chips do they have and what voltage do i need? How does the Mushkin Redline Extreme XP3500 series performs compared to the XP4000 series?
Thank you very much!

By all means use the P4C800E Deluxe. Give your sister the less expensive board. :D

Just a reminder guys... P4C800 HATES UTT DDR... including Redline XP4000... The only game in town for 250+ 1:1 is old-school BH5.

Horray, looks like my 2x512MB set of BH-5 that does 240mhz 1T on my nforce2 Infinity will still be useful :D

Hummm, well i think i'll start the tests with my current AData TCCD coz "old-school" BH5 must be hard to find or too expensive to buy...
EAT for my P-M 730 --> 6 business days :mad: :( :mad: :( :mad: :( :mad:

If you are going to use the P4C like Charlie said, it doesnt like UTT. For the P4P800-SE you can use some redline + booster. Ultimately it will be cheaper to use some TCCD unless you want to risk a vmod. TCCD only needs 2.8V to reach some very nice speeds.
