I have a chance to get a Dothan 760 from a friend of mine for cheap....he retrieved it from his heavily damaged Dell Latitude D410 laptop so what can I do with this processor? All I know is....it has 2MB L2 Cache and rated at 2.0Ghz, I have a single stage phase change on the way soon....so how high can these Dothan 760 hit?

Probably AIR benchable at 2850ish... and on single stage phase, 3100-3200mHz...
On my 750 I only gained about 250mHz going from AIR to -65C...

Wow. So Charlie, would you say it's not even worth it to use phase change on a Dothan? If you could get within 200mhz on water, then it doesn't sound like it's worth the hassle.

thanks for the reply, I did a little bit more reading on these Dothan, looks like underload they consume only about 25w and idle at 14w....no wonder they clock so dang well even on those POS aluminum cooler. but wow....only 250mhz gain from air to cascade, looks like it's better off running on air for 24/7. They absolutely rules the SuperPI bench but suck at 'almost' everything else except for certain 3dmark. Due to the super low energy consumption and heat load...I probably can shove it in a mini tower with cheap and quiet HSF, along with $50 PSU, I think this dothan is the ideal choice for HTPC!!!!! :slobber: My buddy only wants $100 for that M 760 so I better get it off of his hand soon

Some people have 770/780 that may do 3400mHz @ -65C...

NICE price! These things are pretty niiiice gaming CPU's as well.

This review is a 780 which runs @ 2.26ghz, but you can reach that, NP. Just to give you an idea of what Dothan is capable of.
