Does the performance really vary that much when using a PSI or USB wireless adapter? I just got a Linksys WRT54GS wireless router and was looking for some suggestions on either a PCI or USB Wireless Adapter. For PCI I was planning on getting the D-Link DWL G520. For USB I was looking at the Netgear W111TNA. Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks

I have 6 computers my network, two with usb adapters. They work great. Both are from netgear. They are mostly used for internet sharing, so I don't know if the performance is much difference.

I always THOUGHT that a usb one might be better since they are outside of the case, but I may be wrong.

USB and devices that require high bandwidth can hurt your system performance. I've tested several USB devices, especially audio and network controllers and it all holds true. My last Creative USB card would add 2-3 seconds to my superPi times, and thats at 1Million Digits, taking that off and everything goes back to normal. Connecting a linksys USB network card made things even worse when i was transfering data over the network - and loosing bandwidth especially on a wireless connection is something you could REALLY do without as they aint exactly as fast as wired connections. When it comes to devices that are bandwidth hungry, try keep them on the PCI bus whenever possible.
