Hi there
Been a long time since I really did any overclocking/benchmarking, but built a nice custom system at work and I want to get the best possible results from it. :)
Specification
AMD FX57 @ 3GHz (300FSB, HT 3x)
Asus A8N-SLi Premium (Default shipping BIOS)
G.Skill PC4800 @ 300MHz 2.5-7-4-3 timings (2.95v)
XFX 7800 GTX (500/1380) - v77.50 Drivers
XFX 7800 GTX SLi (500/1380) - v77.50 Drivers
Windows XP SP2
2 x Maxtor 6L250SO 16MB in RAID 0
Too my knowledge I have tweaked the BIOS and memory timings as much as possible. I also have the PCI-Express BUS set to 120MHz which seems to be yielding improved results.
At the moment I am hitting 9170 (7800GTX) and 13,850 (7800 GTX SLi) in 3D Mark 2005. It would be nice to hit 14k in 3D Mark 2005 but the cards really won't clock much more.....
In 3D Mark 2001 I am close to 38,000 in SLi and am scoring approx 31,000 in 3D Mark 2003 but 2003 seems to be the one that crashes out seems to get annoyed so easy by system instability.
Now I used to be quite a serious overclocker some years ago and knew a lot more tweaks than I do now, so have forgetton many and need some of you guys such as Macci, Oppainter, ddtung and all the other new extreme overclockers out there to assist me with getting a few more marks out of this rigg. :D
A few questions that maybe some of you guys with serious scores can help with.
1. What drivers are you using? (Is there faster than v77.50?)
2. On 3D Mark 2001 if you ran test in a certain order it gave a good boost, what was the order?
3. I am just clocking/tweaking via the STD nVidia drivers panel, I see Rivatuner newer version is out, will this version allow me to do more tweaking and get better scores?
4. Does adjusting the LOD to specific amounts for certain test still work with 7800's? If so what are the settings and how do I implement them?
5. Are there any other tweaks you can tell me to further improve my 3D Mark Scores on all versions?
If some of you mighty overclockers are willing to share some of your secrets to someone who was once one of you a long time ago it would be greatly appreciated as I just want to get the most out of this system whilst I am having a play again tomorrow, don't get the chance often these days, hehe. :D
If you'd preferre to email me then please send mails too Gibbo205@hotmail.com and it would be great to hear from some of those who are still about from when I was actively getting some of the highest 3D Mark 2000 and 2001 scores. :D
Cheers,
Gibbo
