I just readed Tompshardwares review about Pentium D and I'm wondering that does it really use as much energy as was said. I'm buying Be Quiet 420W or 470W power suplly for a comp, will it be enough? With all my understanding 420W should already be more then enough even when X850XT will be comps video card. So what you guys who already have Pentium D say to this, what kind of power supllys you have?

Don't know if those will work but suspect they're underpowered.

These days with power hungry cpus, gpus, ram and cooling systems it's risky to use less than 500 watt ps's. 550 watts and above are strongly recommended.

Many systems die simply because the ps was marginal. Don't skimp on quality or capacity.

Well dont know, but in Finland we dont have much over 500W power supllies simply because they are not needed. And you cant compare all power supplies between cheap 500W and expensive 500W its possible that cheap 500W gives only 300W out and expensive can go till 600W. So I would like to see ppls comments about powers they are using with this Prosessor.

Do remember that you're dealing with TWO cores, not just one. In my opinion the PSU should be a good quality 450W-500W with at least 18 or more Amp in the +12V rail. If installing a video card that requries a power connector from the PSU, then the 500W.

I decided to go with 470W power, are you guys familiar with BeQuiet powers?

you will want more then 18amps on the 12v line, at least 25+, whats the rails like on those psu's?

You should get a Powerstream 520w (or at least 420w)

here are BQ:s specs:

3,3V 30A, 5V 40A, 12V 29/34*A, -5V 0,8A, -12V 1,0A, 5Vsb 2,5A.
* Peak.

29/34A should be pretty enough =O

this means that 29A is standard but it can give 34A peaks

The mb's maker should have some info on suggested power supplies - either on their web site or in the manual.

If you haven't bought the mb yet they may also have a pdf version of the manual.

If not try emailing their product support group. They're likely to have info that might not be posted.

Better to be certain.

Take in consideration that this little boy sucks 175W in full load (the official 130W TDP is related to the low power mode).
175 is exactly two times the official TDP of a single core prescott.
Mate, do you really want to buy one of these in summer?
