Thats only single 120mm, though it seems to be of the same design... Could be a point, but I don't see a 3x 120mm rad.

interseting. that cooling works thing is an exact duplicate of a BIX... its creepy. even use the same barbs.
i just looked at the new pricing scheme... wow.. it got cut in half.. absolutley shoking. they are actually affordable now.

Gar, your going to make me read that...?
It's not homework, it's your hobby...and if it isn't, then what the hell are you doing here?

I can see where this is going to end up going so...
Dont start a flame war here. It doesnt help anyone and isnt productive.
niksub1's very right about procooling. that is where I learned most of what i know about watercooling. very good place...

Craig don't kid yourself. DD and HW are doing this because of Thermochill/Marci/Cathar. They aren't stupid, just not innovative. They wait for others to do the R&D, wait for results, then copy the idea and say it was theirs and the best product ever. In the end however, it will benefit the community at large.
The pressure is from Coolingworks...I know becouse I run the WORKS and set this in motion. Thermochill has great ideas but radiators are ultimately a commodity and lowest cost best quality will win. CoolRad beats BI on both fronts as well as value added items;)

Lothar, not to show any disrespect but the only radiator i see that coolingworks makes is the BIX copy. HW labs and Thermochill have a very large lineup in comparison.

Lothar don't flatter yourself... I see no innovations from Coolingworks in the rad dept. Nor from HW. I do see Thermochill actively trying to better things and listening to people who know. I see HW capitalizing on the R&D already done by others. Perhaps the price cut is because of Coolingworks, but that was not my issue/gripe.

Actually, the title of the thread is DD price drop, I am sorry I went out on a tangent ranting about DD's inability to be innovative... you may all slap me and put me on ignore :D

CoolingWorks does not claim any innovation in radiator design but we did cut the cost of a radiator in half;)

does it not bother you guys that you did an exact duplicate of the HW labs radiator?

No disrespect taken. This is only the first in a series. But the quality and price of the CoolRad is what drove down prices.

Don't get the impression that this is a cheap knock off....it is not. In terms of construction and finish it is superior to other radiators. Further we include our award winning shroud kit as well as 1/2-inch and 3/8-inch barbs. If you would like to review one I'd be happy to send one to you.

Sure. I was actually just going to ask. I dont have any single 120mm radiators to compare it to, but i do have a BIX2 and a BIP2.
But i must warn you it will be a little while before I can get any final tests done and a review (to be posted on XS main page). but i will post my preliminary results here on the forums.

I can supply you with both a BIX and a CoolRad. I think you will find the performance of both to be about the same. The real difference will be in the overall quality of construction.
Email me at info@coolingworks.com I'd like to talk with you about your testing methods.

Ok will do. a BIX and a Coo(l?)Rad would be good as i can tes the difference of the two.
EDIT: btw so we can all know, how is the CoolRad an improvement in construction quality over the BIX series? I am quite interested in this as from my point of view the BIX series is constructed incredibly well.

I wonder about that too (construction quality). After many BIP, BIXs, only qualm I really have is the self tapping for fan part which can bend rather easily or get stripped... (older BIX, BIP is known to have paint peel off rather easily but last 1 year of what I had didn't have issue unlike 2 years ago ones I had)

One of my online retailers asked me about the paint so the issue still seems to be concern. This is both in terms of scratching and flaking as well as damage during shipping. While I think it is unrealistic to expect a flawless finish on radiators the quality of the paint used should never be an issue.
I’m going to step back from the better quality statement because it is a very subjective term, often difficult to quantify and I am obviously biased. I’ll let you form you own opinion.
What can easily be quantified is the radiators are the same in terms of performance but the CoolRad is a lot less expensive. Plus, you get both size barbs and a fan shroud kit. In short you get a better bang for you buck.
In the interest of fairness and objectivity I’m going to order a new in the box BIX.

Well now the BIX is not a lot more expensive. This thread is not about your company "bix" but about the price drop. It was just me saying, hey look, there affordable finnaly.
Maxx your a mod, can you split this thread?
