Smaller barbs with tighter clips

Is there much danger of using say 3/8 barbs and 1/2" tubing, if i tighten the clips more, and leak test ? ie if its not leaking in 8 hrs, it aint gonna ? or is there chance of a slow leak or something ?

No, but your flow rate will decrease, resulting in slightly higher temperatures. Why would you want to do that anyway? You should use fittings that are bigger than the hose you are using, as to get the highest flow rate possible.

well it isnt 3/8" tbh, its just a strange size of 7/16" OD or something .... its the size tubing for my chipset block... couldnt use bigger barbs as the barbs have to be lcose together...

7/16 is just about 1/2inch. so i wouldnt worry about it. it should fit on tehre just fine.
