View Full Version : Asetek waterchill with V1000b

hey, I'm thinking of a Asetek waterchill kit with a triple radiator.

So that means I'd need a new case, like a Lian-la V1000b. Is it possible to fit a triple radiator in the bottom of the case, where the hard drive racks are? I'd like everything to be in the case.

I would place the rad at the top, but it might interfer with the motherboard, like it has for some people.

I'd really love to get the V1000b, it's so sexy! :slobber:

Thanks in advance

may i suggest not getting that kit... some of the components are excelently made but others are a waste. the nb waterblock is a waste, the gpu waterblock is a joke and the pump is retardedly weak.

for the same money u can do alot better making a setup for yourself.

u can put that radiator up top. its a BIP3.. u wil just end up loosing ur top drive or two though.

I had a kit from asetek and all my three blocks cracked with in 3 weeks thanks to the fact that they don't offer any other tops for their blocks than lucite. And for the money asetek kits cost you could buy much better stuff.

I know the kits not "wonderful" but it's in my price range and plus I can lay-by it! which is very important for me. I rather place it at the bottom.

Well what case would it fit at the top?

thanks guys

trtiple won't fit under v1000b. Even on 2000b which is longer, it will be hard fit with bigger than normal size PSU.

the v1000 will fit the tripple in the top like i said.. but not the bottom.

only case that will comfortably fit the tripple is the UFO-2 from mountain mods..

again, you can get a better setup for less money than the asetek setup...

Maxx, you think the pump is ... weak? I was just looking at the kit contents and I've never heard of the SACEM L35 pump. Other than 900l/h, I can't find any info on it. What do you know about it?

It is better known as Hydor L 35 :P

yap.. its a hydor L35.. the max flow is good but the head pressure leaves more than something to be desired and the build quality on the hydors are... well they arnt good.

Flip PSU mounting plate over so PSU is mounted towards top of lower section. Remove one pair of HDD uprights. Remove front 120mm fan and mount it so that it's between chassis and fascia instead of penetrating chassis (stick it on the other side of it's plate). Move the remaining pair of HDD Uprights all the way up against front of the case.

A PA120.3 or HE120.3 will now fit with ease, and so therefore should anything else you'd care to chuck at it...

With a 1000 however you are most definitely stuck with mounting in top of case, thus losing ability to watercool an SLI GPU setup (as the top card will always be too close to rad to fit a block in, and the second card will also impede airflow thru the rad... as it'll block up probably 40% of the surface area iirc. That and the heat rising from the second card would have an effect on the rad if you're using weak fans. Also lose all remaining PCI / PCI-E slots usually too, as well as easy access to poweron/reset headers n' such like. Can also obstruct SATA ports depending on mobo.

Triple in a v2000:

Get V1200 - it's longer than V1000. Or v2000 if you want more space for hdd's.
You can mount triple rad at the top of the case (that means rad will be on the case, but fans - inside) and make your own aluminum custom top

....that'll look great and good airflow in case too, better vpu temps (and less dust compared to fans at the bottom ;))

it fits in many places on the CM Stacker!!

i have a thermochill 120.3 in the top of my v1000, but it's not all cream and candy!!! i have an abit an8 fatal1ty sli, and due to the rad, i can only use one of the gfx slots, and NON of the pci slots! a bip3 would be ok tho, and it depends what motherboard you use at to weather it inteferes! the asus deluxe sli fits in the v1000 with the rad with some of the pci slots avliable!

if you want i'll stick on some pics of how mine fits in?

hey, sorry for the delay, here are the pics, sorry there a it poor, had to take them with my phone.

as you can see it doesn't leave much space, and it takes up 2 drive bays (all that gunk around one of the fittings was to stop and very persistant and annoying leak!!!!
