I got some money to burn, so i was wondering which was the best DVD+DL burner out there, there are so many and such a huge price range that I can't keep up OR know where to start(or should I wait?). The same applies to 20"(viewable) CRTs; I saw some trinitons and viewsonics both in the 400$+ range that look great, but yet again lost on where to find good reviews from em' so asking the community to help out :D

Plextor makes very good drives. Very reliable and fast. I would definitely buy it.

I would totally suggest a NEC for a dvd+-/RW + DL. The 3500A is slightly better than the 3520A, but the 3520A can be found for $44 while the 3500A can be found for $70. The 3540A (newer version 3520a) is also a great drive with the same specs as the plextor...as can be found for as little as $57. Don't let the prices fool you...There's hacked firmware out there that make them better than any of the other drives, including ones that cost a lot more, like Plextor. The reason the 3520A is considered inferior to the former is mostly because the 3500A has been out longer and there is better hacked firmware for it. I don't know about the 3540A, but I imagine it will probably be even better...There's a huge community behind the firmware that makes them awesome

Do a quick search for "Liggy and Dee" or "herrie" and you'll see what I mean. CDRINFO and CDfreaks also agree. Features like writing media at much higher speeds (1-2x media at 4-8x, 4/8x media at 12/16x...etc) as well as better media compatability, bitsetting (making burned dvds appear to be dvd-roms...so any dvd player can play them...even ones that can't read DVD+-R's)...the list goes on and on. NEC drives are the best one the market because of the awesome firmware, and the price is great. I still have a 2500A (flashed to 2510A + DL) and I love it. Burns all my 4x media at 8x (the drive's topspeed) flawless...and testing on a liteon for errors shows it has amazing quality. Havn't tried DL yet, but it supposedly works at 2.4x (the 3500 series does so at 6x -R DL and 8x +R DL IIRC), and I don't doubt it's fantastic as well.

As for a monitor...I always liked the G220FB...If I had the bucks to upgrade it's what I would get. Awesome price/performance ratio, and was #1 at pcworld for the longest time...until they stopped doing CRT's. Check epinions and pricegrabber for reviews. I hear the P815 is great as well, but I know for a fact the 220 is gorgous. Both are Viewy's.

Here's a refurb on the cheap:

I have one and it is killer. It is BIG and weighs a TON though, I had to add some supports to the shelf on my desk that it sits on.
