I have decided to upgrade from my lowly computer stats Athlon XP 2800 and I am wondering what you will say. I am going to probably overclock my cpu about 200Mhz and I want the ram at the tightest timings possible.
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Processor (Venice) Socket 939 Retail $146.00 at ZZF
DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D ATX AMD Motherboard $135.00 at NewEgg
Thermalright XP-120 with Panaflo M1A $73.49 at Frozen Cpu
OCZ VX PC3200 2x512MB $153.12 at NewEgg
I have a Hard Drive a Maxtor DiamondMax 9 80GB but I will upgrade later
SAPPHIRE Ultimate Edition Radeon X800XL 256MB 256-bit $324.99 at NewEgg
I have a Lian-Li PC-61
Power PC and Cooling Silencer 470 ATX Power Supply $99.00 at PC Power and Cooling.
Total= 931.60 without shipping

Do I need anything more than just a XP-120 if I am going to overclock just around 200Mhz. Also is that power supply suffecient for the system.
Also is the X800XL fans quiet or are they loud. I would like to have a quiet fan without adding a aftermarket fan to it. Thanks for helping me.

If you are only going to be overclocking 200Mhz, you would probably be fine with the stock heatsink.

Everything looks perfect, though that PSU is overkill if you're only OCing 200Mhz...heck its overkill even if you're ocing 800 Mhz :D

Lemme find a silent 24-pin psu for you...

If you want quiet get a Seasonic PSU.

Are you talking about the Power PC. Yeah it is I am going overkill on that because I want that sucker to last.

You should take off the XP-120. You don't need it for a mere 200MHz overclock. Just get something small and quiet, maybe even stock, it would save you a lot of money. Other than that, everything seems fine.

I am only going to overclock 200Mhz but I want the XP-120 for 2 reasons. First it is quiet with the 120MM fan. Second it will keep my cpu cool which is a must becuase my computer will be right next to a vent. Also are the stock X800XL fans quiet I really don't want to spend $324 on a X800XL but it is quiet. Are they really quiet?
