3000+ Venice
DFI DAFG(or NF4 Ultra if your gonna OC)
OCZ PC3200 Gold VX
OCZ Power stream 420/520
ATI x700pro/x800 or equivelent Nvidia
Then from there, Hard drives and stuff is up to preference...

I recommend Neo4 because it's a better stock board than the DFI. It still OCs, but doesnt have the insane stuff DFI offers. Whether he OCs or not, I don't think he'll need the crazy stuff with an NF4.

Looks to be a decent system if he isn't planning on overclocking. Only thing is you can proabably drop that price by shopping around. I like to use www.pricegrabber.com as a quick way to get a low price but if you looked around some more using pricewatch and other sites you could probably find even cheaper.

yes I did. VX is good gaming ram. But you can always just use a gig of value ram

Maybe he should take a cheaper motherboard so he can spend a little bit more money on a good psu?

if he's not overclocking I would just find the cheapest set of ram that runs 2-2-2-5 at 200mhz stock. Also did you search around for cheaper prices??

You can get a brand new monitor for a bit cheaper if you search on Ebay instead of buying it off newegg...
