View Full Version : How do you get a MOBO to boot without a power switch??

I have a new DX rig and it is not in a case and i can not figure out how to get it to boot??

I have an ASUS PC-DL

Do you have a Manual for it?

If so: Chapter 2: Hardware Information, page 2-32 to 2-33.

There's 20-pin System Panel Connector. ATX Power Switch is what you need to short to Turn ON/OFF your PC. Just get a jumper and short it briefly. It will Turn ON. To Turn it OFF, short it again and keep it there for 4secs. It will shut down.

with a metal object to temporarily short the two pins that the power switch connects to

I used a paperclip to power on my server a while ago. Works like a charm. It's kind of annoying to have to do that each time you want to turn it on, though. Try to loot a power button from an old case instead, that's what I did.

I used some wire and put it over the pins...then I just have to touch the wires together...before I just used a screwdriver, but my mom wanted to be able to turn on my computer....she didn't feel comfortable using a screwdriver.

lol... Son, where is that srcewdiriver? i need to turn this :banana: computer on


just short out the pins usualy on the bottom right hand of the mobo. just touch them together with something that conducts electriticy:) but only 2 pins at once...
