I picked up a dual p3 933 s370 setup and one cpu runs at ~24C and the other at 50-60C at idle. the hotter cpu has the better hs/fan on it. I have tried several different hs/fans on the hotter one. It seems the h/s doesnt sit squarely on the chip, if i push down on the bottom edge of the h/s the temp goes down instantly. I tried repositioning the h/s, helps a little. Anyone have experience with s370's and this type of problem? I dont want to load d2ol on it and run at 100% till i figure it out.

Switch the cpu's around and make sure that it isnt just an error.

make sure the heatsink isnt pressing against a capacitor or some plastic or something.
should have my dual slot1 933 up this weekend finally :D

I switched the chips and not much difference, one at 40c and other at 26c. decent temps, better, but 26 seems too low to be right and difference is too much. I already flashed the bios, so it must a temp probe problem.

i really hope not you cracked the core on the second one.. each time moving the HSF around it can crack edges of the core.
I really like to have my CPUs shim padded, even the P3s.. I would apply some sort of shims on four corner of the cpu packaging. That will also help the HS to sit evenly.
I really really miss the P3's... Those are sweet CPUs.. :(
