those would probally do real welll crunching and they have unlocked multis so u could have some real fun overclocking them. basicly those are the same as the 478 Extreme Editions.

All Xeons are unlocked. ES chips are the first ones produced so they usually don't clock as well.

The 3.0Ghz ES ones I bought were only downward unlocked.

and this is a bad thing how? Downward unlocked just means you can take fuller advantage of your ram ;)

Well since they are already 200 FSB chips it would be nice if you could set the multi up not just down. Running a 100 FSB 1.6Ghz chip at 200 it's not such a big deal.

All Xeons are unlocked from 12 to the normal multi. For instance my 2.4LV Xeons have 12-18 available...133x18=2.4Ghz (stock).
