So I just got bored, And I made a cardboard Shroud for my 5KBTU AC. Ducted with 4 inch Vent Dryer Ducting, straight into the side of my PC, with Cardboard PC cover, with just room for the Duct. On high, not sealed 100% I'm getting idle temps in Smart Guardian of about 18C on CPU, 17C on PWMIC and 27C on chipset. These temps are lower than I have ever accomplished even in the winter. I'll OC my CPU a Bit and then go for broke on my GPU. Wish me luck. Wish I had pics but I have no cam atm :\

you got pics bro? i've always wanted to do something like this. i think that a successful overclock requires cooling both the mobo and the cpu. i noticed that whenever it's cool outside and my room is cool, my oc is stable and i can go higher. alot of people concentrate on cooling the cpu, gpu, chipset, memory, but neglest the mobo and the temp inside the case. if the mobo is too hot, it will affect all other components on it. lets just say that you got the cpu core to a cool and comfortable 30c or below. however if your mobo is above 30c, it will affect the sockets on the cpu, the chipset, the memory, etc... most people probably won't agree, but that's just MHO :). now i'm going to need to get a dremmel to cut a hole on the side panel :).

make a side panel out of cardboard spare you cover lol.
It's going good. Using mem dividers for the first time. I'm in windows posting on here at 2.6 Which is higher than ever before
gonna go for 2k1 first. Time for some video tweaking :p

Ok so That was short lived. Got kinda bored and I have no bench programs. But I improved my little shroud thinger, covered up and re-enforced with duct tape :p

If you want to do it well. Go to the store when u get ur ducting and buy a small plastic tub, ducting and some rubber sealer molding stuff. Cut a hole in the tub and slap it on the AC and seal it all up. If your feeling crazy you can just take the thing apart but i know mommy wouldn't liek that too much.

Yeah, it's a fun project to do. I bought a 5200btu a/c and sealed the evap inside an insulated tub. It is quite effective. -31C idle for the air inside about -28C on load. All motherboard components hover around 0C and the cpu is at -7C idle and 12C load. :D

Not much, It's just a small 5200btu a/c. So it's 400w at the most. That's about as much power as adding an extra computer. So not that bad.
