am having troubles setting up an raid array with 2 maxtor 80 gigs sata disks, the problem goes as follows:
i can go into the raid bios and select the 2 hd's ,but when am trying to install an OS on it the system hangs and reboots, and yes i pressed F6 during install and installed the 2 drivers that came with the motherboard on a floppy. In the bios the raid contoller is enabled.
i have been searching forums to find a solution ,but havent found one yet, i also see there are alot of other people having a hard time setting up a raid array on dfi nf4.
did i overlook something here?
or is this a common failure on dfi nf4?
i hope u can help me out here.
At what exact point does it hang? Is just after you press f6 or somewhere in setup. Does Windows setup recognize the drive as 160Gb?
I had no problems setting up raid.

What i do and it works good is this...
Before i bother with windows, i use the maxblast software and format EACH drive without partitions... After thats accomplished, i reboot into bios, create the array, save and shut down.. upon power up, i insert the win cd and boot off it.. once i get to the screen to install raid drivers, i promptly hit F6, install the drivers and im on my way.. how long are you waiting after it loads the drivers?

I had a problem of reinstalling windows on a new board in RAID. System would blue screen right when beginning to load windows.
I had to up RAM from 2.6V to 2.8V and it went smoothly. I had no problems setting up the RAID. Not sure if they're related but see if that works?

So let me get this straight. Windows is supposed to automatically call up the NF chipset and say " hey dude, im HARDWARE raid, i dont need a driver for you to communicate with me... "
Interesting. So i dont need a driver for my hardware based video, sound, ethernet, etc... :slap:
