Hey Guys,
HOT out from the oven, MSI K8N Neo2 bios 1.95b beta i guess. Anybody tried? Source from MSI german site (http://www.msi-forum.de/thread.php?threadid=17206&hilight=1+9b5). Havent read what's the changes. Heads up.
Dont read German, so not sure if this is the E3/E4 support bios. Anybody?
:)

The whole structure of the BIOS is new, thus I do believe this is an official Venice/San Diego/X2 BIOS.
But it is BETA.

I'll try it as soon as my board gets back from RMA! :D
And look, some more memory timing options!!! :toast:
seems like there is no cpu multiplier in this one tho

CD,
How did you get to that screen without mobo? Will this sstill use the same flash utility? Is the 1T/2T selectable now (for SD)?
thx.

Used modbin6 in windows to view the bios layout. Yes, you can still use the same flash utility, and i believe 1T / 2T is selectable now.
As for the CPU multiplier issue, it is a BETA only remember, its the first beta release for a newly programmed (from scratch) bios...do you expect it to be perfect on the 1st attempt? :) There are also issues with selecting memory dividers higher than 200.

Here's to hoping MSI get it right this time around! Looking at the memory options, this could be a goodun!

On 1.7 & 1.8 primes large FTT failed 10 - 15 mins @2600MHz any Vcpu 1:1
could only get 24hr prime @2500
But been running 2600MHz 1:1: for 1hr 26mins CPU-z core voltage 1.45V
mem 1T 2.5 4 4 7
So its better but need time to test - Time for bed - its late
C how it primes and try for higher tomorrow is prime still running when home from work

got it up and running using this bios along sd3700+. no multi, voltage option is limited to selectable numbers without the usual % increment, however is the bios reading/mbm is correct, it fluctuates terribly; ie. 1.65v bios set will only read 1.5v; 1.7v reads 1.55v. Not sure if this is a reading bug or anything, but i'm being careful and setting it to 1.65 bios just incase. Dont wanna fry my chip :nono:
Testing continues........

Did that 3 times after 1.9b5 flash. It was the modded one. maybe the normal one could be fine. This BIOS isn't just stable yet on my system
btw, I flashed it with MIS's winflash, maybe I will try normal one not modded and flash it in DOS mode

Guys, i have a question to ask u, and u guys probably know beacause u guys are the experts.. Im using a 3700 San Diego with the Neo 2 platinum. For some reason when i try to turn on my computer, nothing is on my screen. There is only a green blinking light on my monitor, so i think ithe monitor is not getting any signal. I tried replacing the RAM with another stick that i know it works, i tried replacing the video card and the monitor, and still, i get that stupid black screen. I took it to the shop and they said they flashed the bios to the newest one ( wasnt sure if they were lying or not), but my system still isn't posting! what should i do??!?! im soo frustrated with my new system.. My system specs are listed below

MSI K8N Neo 2 Platinum
OCZ DDR400 2 x 512 MB Platinum Rev 2.0

SD and Venice are supposed to work with 1.36 and higher bios for MSI Neo2. I was running my Venice with the 1.5 bios and it worked fine, and it certainly works with the 1.8 bios. If they truly flashed the bios to the latest (1.8) then it should be working fine. How did they flash it if it doesn't turn on? Did they use another CPU while they were flashing? Maybe your chip is bad, unlikely though.

But i still got many issues with my neo2 plat. I run Super PI 1M on 45 sec's :o
And the cpu wont clock above 2300 MhZ , :( It isn't the cpu because i was at the shop 2day and i got a new cpu, Still the same prob.. :,(
In the weekend i try the cpu on a friends board. If it runs on he's board i'll send the mobo 2 RMA

Cpu 1.5volts (reported by CPU-z) failed in 1hr 16 mins
so will try at STD volts - after all could only get this Venice stable (prime 24hr) at 2500Mhz 1:1 with a CPU 1.3V (reported by CPU-z) anything above STD it failed
But it does seem to be more stable than 1.7 or 1.8 IMHO

Failed 33mins at 1.36V cpu 2600MHz mem 1:1
just set to 1.7V in bios CPU-z reads 1.552V - prime running
(I should off retested the mem etc for stability but I have taken it for granted that it is fine, as it pass memtest 12hr+ at same timmings and Up to 270HTT 1:1 so I am cutting corners a bit! Just entered the values which A64Tweaker gave for the mem at the stable mem speed into the new bios mem screen )

Agree - but IMHO it needs to be as it sorts out the high clocks and the stable high clocks - dont want to spend too much time testing as its only a beta bios and I am aiming for higher than 2.6Ghz and the DFI agp is out too
Just ran memtest86 it failed at the mem settings but off cousre it would - No CPU multipler adjustment :wasntme:

Same here with the voltage, why would it fluctuates so much? My SD 3700+ max oc at 1.55v 11x249. Needs 1.65v for 11x253...guess i'll stick with 1.55v for now.

CPU up to 1.6v via BIOS... heard someone got it to 1.7V with corecenter
there aren't ay 183 divider in the BIOS.... but there are 216,233,250 dividers which doesn't work
so Zeus, it seems slightly more overclockable so far? Hmm, will have to do some serious consideration about getting that DFI board or not...
Well i'll be getting an Ultra-D in addition to getting this one, so i'll defenitely be doing some comparisons when I get the DFI board.
Looks like a few things need to be cleared up, so I might think twice before flashing it tonight.

Doesn't the offical BIOS already have Normal / Weak Drive Strengt options? You do something different?
And whats the Overclockers Bios Layout?
Just wondering before I flash again (No BIOS saver :P )
BTW thanks for all the work ur doing to fix the crapped up Neo2 BIOS's :D
Dimm Drive Strength option is unhided just like in previous mods. tic tac changed bios layout so every option is in correct spot. No worry on flashing

However, my system crashed whenever I used > +10%. I'm sure the proc can take that much coz I had used 1.45+ (13%/15%) with 1.36b bios. Any idea?

I been watching the German MSI forums for the final release information of the new bios. Latest I read today from MurdoK, the guy who MSI gave 1.9b5 beta to pass out and has kept us posted said today that MSI said by the end of the month. In the meantime a guy on the German MSI forums provided this link (http://216.239.37.104/translate_c?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&langpair=de%7Cen&u=http://www.swjka.com/k8nneo2bios/%3Fdir%3D./need.for.mhz&prev=/language_tools) with a new modded 1.8 bios that fixes the 1T/2T problem with the San Diego. This is what I've been waiting for 2 months, but since the new official is supposedly a week away I don't think I'm gonna try it. If anyone does, or if I get bored and flash, please post your results.
