Back after a year, whats been happening?

Joined in Dec 2003, been away, now back!

I have been going thru XS forums now for 2 days and I could cry :(

My comp is so outdated I want to run it over.

I need to upgrade and was thinking (before I came on here!) of getting a mobile barton 2500XP and a gig of DDR3200 with a new mobo & a Radeon 9800XT, but even thats outdated :stick:

CPU brand x has been beating brand y all that time. :D

AMD 64 3000 venice aint that expensive with a mobo, about 220$ combined (cheapest).
And it clocks very nicely.

yeah, a 3000 Venice or even a Sempron, wouldn't be bad. Either way you can get a nice DFI board to go with the CPU. Plus OCZ Value VX is fairly cheap so that would be a good buy.

Ok cool, so a venice 3000, some OCZ and maybe an Abit AN8.

What about graphics, I like all sorts of games, im on a budget so is the 6600GT any good?

Last time i checked it had best price performance ratio, and i don't think that things have changed.

Im in UK and my budget is around £400.

I got my car tax & M.O.T to pay at the end of the month :(

£60 tax (6months) and M.O.T is only around £30 if you dont need anything done.. what ya complainin about :P

yea, but i would probably go for an X800Pro PCI-E, MSI K8N Nforce4, 3000+ Venice when u got the cash.

Those together makes about 300£, but there is no memory yet...

Im just thinking that, what memory your current rig has ?
Since if it's DDR at 266 or above, it's usable for A64 system.
A64 is not so picky for memory speeds, so 266 or faster is good enough for system that aint gonna brake records anyway. :)

I did have a NF7-S and 2x256 PC3500 Hyper-X, until i had to sell it cos my ex gf kicked me out :(

Now I have my uber old Epox 8KTA3+ and 256 SDR & a 1700XP Tbred A.

I forgot to mention I still have my GT3 Ti200, with a PCB layout worse than Liberial Democrats plans to run the country.

And to make matters worse my car needs new tires, new brakes, in fact the list is so big I may as well get a new car :stick:

Best bet is to get a A64 3000 venice for the processor.

Hmmmm a Rover 220 coupe, I would genuwinely be interested in that, but rover going bust :stick: Plus im only 19 :)

Anyways so 64-Bit processing is the way forward :woot:
