Battle field 2 demo what do you think about it ?

First impressions of the game is that its a really poorly made game. Trying to change youre controls for boats, jets, helicopter, tank, and ground combat are almost impossible. The game wont allow you to use the same key 2 times which is really stupid. All my controls i had for BF1942 how i flew, drove tanks and flew helicopters on desert combat i cant pick because they are being used by something else it pisses me off.

The helicoptersi n this game are a complete joke, on desert combat hovering in one spot and aiming down to shoot something and staying in that spot was easy. This game you cant hover at all cept when youre landing, when you aim down to shoot something you start going 100 MPH and fly like a jet straight at the ground making it impossible to kill something almost.

Driving tank and ground vehicles is the same for me easy and fun and sound affects and way they move are awsome. Ground combat in general is pretty cool having medics reviving you when you die before youre respawn timmer runs out is pretty cool.

Flying jets in this game is like desert combat almost impossible with a keyboard and mouse they fly so fast on such a small map the only thing you can do is camp another air craft carrier and get lucky and shoot a slow helicopter down while flying 800mph.

The graphics are great same with the sound but the amount of memory this game uses makes me mad. With my settings 4xAA 8xAF 1280x960 all in game settings to there max the game uses all my 1gb of memory and a ton f pagefile thus the game jerks sometimes specially while flying.

Well there is my rant i give the game a 4 outa 10. I hope that the real version when it comeso ut isnt like this.

This game they are flying rocks, aiming down to shoot a vehicle only moves you foward at speed that makesit hard to shoot anything, i mentiond this in the server i was playing and most people agreed it needs to be fixed.

The commander thing is ok but if youre like me where you dont give a hoot about "orders" and want to just play you most likely get banned or kicked out not everyone like to play as a team i just want to kill something, i dont care for winning much. Ya tho it is pretty cool.

Iv always been a tank guy in these games BF1942, Desert combat, Forgotten hope, BFV ect while being a decent flyer in all games this game im bout the same like the tank dont like flying much, but the helicopters need work.

The pagefile is using 1.4 GB !!!!!!!

Windows set it to 1.5 Gb min and 2.5 GB limit, when you have 1 GB RAM
I have set it to 512MB min 512MB top 1.5GB limit
I have never been over 500 before, i haven't played a game using more than 500 MB.
This game really eats your Ram and pagefile OMG.

But i think the game is fun, as long as you stay on ground, or use a vehicle on ground.
And as i mentioned in another topic about this game, try being the Middle East Coalition, their voices are to much fun.

Menu system - utter rubbish, slow and cumbersome. The human interaction element is non-existant.

Gameplay - hmm, too early to say really. It's faster gameplay in the demo levels than DC. Just need to get a feel for the game.
However it's so far up it's own behind musicwise - when "US" wins or when it looses it get's the hill-billy-blues.. Hmm I prefer DC's music.. or perhaps we can substitute MP3s for the celebration music..

System requirements - played this on an vapo LS FX55, 2GB with a 9800 128MB card as my gf3ti200 is now too lowly! It needs 256MB of card memory.. should have the bits by end of June to play the retail BF2 :D

I just finished installing the demo, gameplay is good. Almost like onslaught in UTK2004 but in warfaremode of course. There's some spots that needs to be work on in the game, mainly graphics. But other than that it's a blast to play......Will definetely owning a copy when it relaeses itself from weapon of mass destruction :D

For all those interested - If you like the demo and plan on playing it until the full release, try this:

Go to C:/Program Files/EA Games/BF2Demo/Mods/BF2/Movies - now once in the Movies folder you can delete all but the 3 I left here. It will get rid of all the opening adds and logos. It opens the game right to the login screen :toast:

i know of how to remove time limit on server, but have not been able to alter it for single player

remve time limit on server:
Open up the file gpm_cq.py with notepad, it's under Battlefield 2 Standalone Demo Server\mods\bf2\python\game\gamemodes
Locate the line
host.registerHandler('TimeLimitReached', onTimeLimitReached, 1)
Place a # in front of it so it appears like
#host.registerHandler('TimeLimitReached', onTimeLimitReached, 1)

Seriously WTF is a 500mb demo doin eating up 1gb of ram and 1gb of page file!!!

I hope it is a mem leak, but I haven't been able to find out for sure. I guess i could check to see if there is a gradual increase in my page file, but last time i checked it seemed to level off and doesn't increase after a certain time point.

When I first played it I was a little disappointed. I just had such high expectations that it could not possibly come close to realizing. Now that I've played it for a few days I think it is amazing. I cant stop playing it. Just a load of fun. We should get an XS clan going and kick some butt.

I really love BF2 and i am not disappointed at all....

I really like the look of the game (not the best Grafics so far but still better then other MP Shooters) good motion blurs and the particle system of the Engine is not bad....character/weapon/vehicle modells are really great imo...

Gameplay really rocks...good balancing (ok in this demo map, we´ll see how the other maps will work ) and great weapons...(love the Blackhawks side-gatlings :) )

hmn...i just cant wait to get my hands on the final version :woot:

care to share any tips? i have only played a few rounds but i did notice the copter was a little off. i first needed to invert the mosue settigs for both plane and chopper. i think i also set the sensitivity all the way up, and figured im best off relearning the new chopper that way.

Yeah the choppers and Jets are a :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana: to control :mad: EA should bend over and do :slapass: But fun factor is very impressive though. No doubt about that. :toast:

This game is driving me NUTS, I have my comp @ 2.2Ghz, 1.75Volts, 220MHZ RAM, 2.9Volts, 7-3-3-3T 1GB of ram and the dam think KEEPS hanging up, wen in the game for 10 seconds or 20 BAM, down goes everything and the whole thing locks up THE ENTIRE computer.


Me think i'm going to hunt down EA games and Dice staff an kill them in the bloodiest way possible for showing such a horrific piece of programming BS ....

I even DOWNCLOCKED EVERYTHING, no go, volts maxed (meaning 1.85Vcore, 2.9VDimm with core @ 1.8Ghz, mem @ 166 mhz 8-3-3-3T, NOTHING, same result but with a bloody hot core (thank for for my decent cooling)

Either your system wasn't stable or you got the garbled demo. Re-downoald that pos and try install it again. lol. :D Gotta tell ya man, i havent had any lock-ups or any sorts of things you folks experienced with this game. All I know is that it's a good ram stability test, since it taxes out the ram :p: I just wonder how this game plays and looks if they used the source engine to run it. :toast:

If you read again you'll notice I am well within config. requirements and that the thing lock up. I don't know all THAT much about computers not being able to handle a game, but normally if your comp is to weak, the game is slow as hell, slideshow like, loads VERY slow. Which is NOT the case here. It loads fast, and fluent and the graphics themselves are very nice and fluent but like 10 seconds into the game, every time, 10 seconds exactly the game crashes, HARD

sounds like you have stability problems. have you tried putting everything back to stock? like reset ur cmos and try that. crashing is caused by instabilities. if your overclocked, thats probably where the problem is. hope this helps

Love the game, but the heli's suck, DC helicopters are much, much better. Planes are too fast and sluggish to do anything bar avoid flying off the map.

Don't know how you lot use so much RAM, I've got 768MG and I'm fine? Mind you, my system only uses 160-180MG at startup, so I have a fair bit free.

ripp, did u turn the sensitivity up in the options? this helped me a lil bit with the aero-vehicles as far as turning etc.

I to am having a problem with theg ame locking up, when you first get in the game you shoulda wait a couple minutes cuss i noticed when i get in the game and to go multiplayer and the server come up the game just locks up if i wait like 3-4 min before going to multiplayer to check servers out it doesnt lock up.

In your VC settings, set AA to Application preference and set AA in BF2 options.

After i've been playing this demo for few days I still haven't managed to get the control keys to work so I came over here to see if anybody is having same problem with it and voila... you said it..... sooo... well. :) I hate this :D .. the gameplay is good... a lot of action going on in this game but I can't get the damn control keys to change the way I want... Is the full version completely control changeable?.. cause they really need to work on this... this is a serious issue.

I give overall gameplay - 9 out of 10.

I give control key option - zero... none... nothing.. notta lol




as for the page file and mem usage issue, i don't know... i have no issue what-so-ever. On my dothan system@ nearly 2.7gz and dual raptor@ raid0 w/ only 512mb of ram it takes me quite long time to load the game but once i'm in it, it flies. no jerkyness, almost no pauses nothing... runs very~ nicely :D
