I have this PC-DL with 3.06, 1 MB cache Xeons in it. I did the 1.525 to 1.6 VCore mod ( u-wires and insulated pins ). Not sure if I didn't quite get the mod right, or just that the chips are intolerant of much past stock VCore. At any rate, the thing ran way too frigging hot and barely produced anything. Often times it would be sitting there at the logon prompt when I got home.
Yesterday I undid the voltage mod and removed the VRM heatsink and put individual MicroCool heatsinks on all the ICs.

The machine is running now! Much cooler, too. VRM temps are almost the same as the CPU temps, high 40's, low 50's. I'm at 3174 mHz, for now, with it. Not really sure how to mess with these 3.06's. What RAM speed, etc. Stock is 133 x 23 ( 3060 ). I'm at 138. I need different RAM for it. I'm temporarily using 256x2 of GSkill LE. LOL. Friggin RAM is rated for speeds of 277 and I'm running it at 138!

Does anyone have 3.06's? How do you set them up?

At any rate, I now have a machine that I had turned off, in disgust, up and running and producing. Right on!
