so i installed the vf700 on my x800xl, i have all the screws and mounts tight. i used the rubber washers on both sides of the card (as stated in the instructions) i was putting some other fans in my case and when i took out my card i noticed that i could move the cooler to the left and right a little bit... but it seems to have contact with the core and my card doesn't overheat, and i have also even been able to increase my OC a little bit.

i was just curious if other people with this cooler have the same problem...?

thanks

I had the same exact problem on my X800 XT PE AGP. It gave great temps still but I didn't trust it as it wobbled quiet a lot.

The trick I figured out when mine wobbled, was that you have to take a pair of needlenose pliers and manually turn the top nipple, then retighten the screws onto the nipple

Great cooler though, just got mine today, idles at 28 and loads at 42 ...with stock thermal paste to boot :)
Gonna mod my 6600GT tommorow now that I can trust this

Sometimes it 'seats' firmer after it heats up a little. Zalman cpu coolers will sometimes do the same thing.

I had the same experience with my 9700pro. I took it off to check and the paste looked like it had a perfect contact. Put it back again and tightened it a bit more and it seems to be ok now.

evga 6800 GT here. I'm using this cooler now, and it seems to be on there pretty tight. Not much, if any play is noticable.

Exceptional cooling as well.

i took the cooler off and tightened down the nipples as much as i could. one of them had a little tightening left in it. put the cooler back on and there is far less wiggle (just a sight bit, normal i would say) i just find it wierd that you would have to crank it down that tight to make good contact, just didnt' want to damage my card
