I am having problems with one of the sticks of TwinMOS TMSP400 BH-5. One of the sticks won't go over 220-230 no matter what I do.

Everytime I start Memtest, it first gives me a couple of errors in tests 2 and 3 (before I have time to loop test 5). Then it gives me about 60 errors in tests 5. And here is the interesting part, the number of errors, and address are always the same. I always get about 60 errors (forgot the exact number, but it is always the same number) in test 5, and in all the errors the address is the same (313.3 MB). And these doesn't change no matter what I do. I have tried all of the following:

1. Increasing voltage
2. Playing with TREF values (tried several suggested here, as well as Auto)
3. Playing with DRAM Drive strength (7, 6, 5)
4. Playing with DRAM Data Drive Strength (3, 2, 1)
5. Playing with TRFC (11 to 16)
6. Playing with TRC (7 to 14)

The other stick, does fine. I currently have it as high as 250MHz with 3.3V and the following:
2-2-2-8-1T-11-13-3-2-2-3-3120-1-Enable-
Increase-200-Level 5-Level 2-7-Fast-5.0-016-Disable-16x-7x-Disable

What do you think those errors mean? Is the stick bad?

Thanks.

Which bios are you running? any divider?

I got my sticks of twinmos sp 1a4t's up to about 240 at 3.2volts(nonjumper) but tons of errors in test 7 which I rarely see. I think the new bh-5 needs 3.5volts. I would burn in memtest at 200 then 210,220,230,240. then up voltage to 3.4 and repeat 200,210 and so on up to 3.5 and see if the error goes away.

try another bios too. 310 sucked for the new bh5 imho.

I am on 510-2 BIOS using yellow DIMMs and 1:1 divider.

I did use it for a while at 200 MHz, 2.7V to 2.8V and 2-2-2-8-1t timings.

I also have tried upping the voltage up to 3.3V to 3.4V, it did't have any effect on those errors.

try the orange slots...... I'm using the same bios for my Redline mem and the orange slots are more stable for me.

They're specced for 200FSB @ blahblah, so if they run at that fine, the sticks are NOT bad, anything xtra is just that. Not all sticks are Xceptional :fact:
Remember one of the requirements here is that we are all greedy and to quote Jnav - 'Its never fast enough!' :D

turn the voltage down it will fix it i guarantee hehe mine were like this too they would "run" unreliably up to 250 with voltage but the voltage caused a few errors but only rock stable with low voltage -3.0v at 210-215 range for perfect stability

could bench 250 tho but would crash eventually

Your problem is that the memory hates Volts :P

My HyperX gets also always 60 errors when using 3.7v++ (used to get errors after 3.0v++ but burned them and they dissapeared until 3.7v)

Thank you for the replys. Hmmm, I really hope you guys are right about the voltage, but how come the other stick is not like that?

Like mad mikee said, if they work @ specified timings and speed, it isnt bad. Some sticks are just amazing, and others just not as good. Do u have cooling over them?? Try letting it run memtest overnight to make sure they are burnt in completely.

..... but how come the other stick is not like that?No 2 sticks are ever perfectly matched, they are very close, but they will never be an exact match...just has to do with the technology that's used to produce the IC's. Goes along the same lines as 2 mobo's or 2 CPU's that are same batch but OC differently :)

Hope that helps

mine initially can only do with below;
1.5-2-2-2-1T-7-12-0-2-1-1-3120-1-Enable-
auto-0-Level 1-Level 2-7-Fast-5.0-016-Disable-16x-7x-Disable

i try it only with orange slots as yellow slot require totally different timing on my board....mostly the dram drive strength for my set is very picky...

however now the nice bh-5 is resting.......
