Just wanted there to be a comparison out there. Both fans can be had at around the same price. One is significantly louder than the other. But here it is:
Test subject lapped XP-120 and a lapped Venice 3500+.

Vantec:
Idle:29-31
Super Pi: 44-46
Prime95: 49-52

Panaflo:
Idle:28-31
Super Pi: 36-39
Prime 95: 44-47

Since the Prime 95 is after 2 hours, I think I'm running into an airflow problem. I'm probably gonna swap out all my other 120mm fans for the ultra high speed and wear ear muffs (one side intake, one front intake, one blowhole, one rear exhaust).

So the ultra, as expected :slap:, is awesome compared to the vantec , a 5*C drop under load is nothing to sneeze at. Also, the PWMIC temp went down to 32*C with the ultra when it would sit at 45* C with the vantec :slapass:.

I think the take home message is that the ultra high speed could be attached to a temp sensing auto controller so that under light load it can operate near silence, and under heavy load it could be more agressive to give optimal cooling. In other words I'm really contemplating getting that x-bus :stick:.

Most mb's have a temp contol through bios for the cpu fan header. Just need to use a 3 pin on the fan. ;)

I use a high cfm YSTech (I think 128cfm) on my XP120 and use the DFI NF4 bios to control fan speed. works very well, very quite at idle and when the need is there so is the air ! lol

does that fan come with a 3 pin connector?

The YS tech does, but it doesn't monitor fan speed. The mb bios fan speed controller doesn't require rpm tach to work, it just changes the voltage to the 3 pin based on the cpu temps.

you can just cut off the molex and soldier on the 3 pin connector on any fan it will work. Or just make a molex to 3 pin converter.
