i had an extra server laying around at my shop. and decided that we should have our very own dedicated server. right now it's running C-strike Source. but if u guys want i can switch it to pretty much any game made by/in the half life engine. (c-strike, dod, firearms, etc..) or even switch it to hl2 multiplayer(very fun)
the info on my server is:

pings are usually really low, i have dsl 3mbs in my work and i had 4 of my friends playing on it and the pings were avering about 60 so not to bad..

(for all u hardcore gamers need not apply under this)
To connect to this server start up steam and start playing cstrike-source;
then click find servers u COULD find it manually but it usually takes to long. so just use the next tab and click on favorites. then just click the button "add ip to favorites" add linuxboy.servegame.com:27015 and the server should show up on ur screen. double click on the name to start playing.

my handle on cstrike and every other game for that matter is "linux boy" so if u have any questions or u want me to add ur maps to the server or u want to become an admin (no cost, u just have to know what ur doing and u have to be able to beat me in a cs knifing fight ;) ) also my e-mail is chambers7867@sbcglobal.net

notbad server did pretty good. only thing i woudl suggest is a ranking system. we jsut put one on out box called physco stats. the actuals stats page is hosted of a firned box at his house so tis really slow but its pretty cool.

certain times of the day the server will lag. nothing i can do about that. my business does have to use the internet during the day and i have to upload and download drawings between my two places. anyhow. i updated the system it's now running beetlemod. so u can use commands such as <b>rank, next map, votekick, um... votemap(not right this second though im still configureing that)</b> but i also updated the Motd if anyone is really good at photoshop and wants to make a cool banner for the motd let me know. that would be greatly appreached!

yeah no doubt. a tourny would be great. we just need a time and a map. for the tourny i can bring my server home (lower pings but it'll be a different ip address[which i can update on this fourms so not that big of deal]);
i dont know how exactly the teams would go. but it's defently an idea..
as far as the bots i towned them down and i can make them no use an awp or scout and i put there difficulty level a step lower it's a range from 0 to 3 usually i have it set at 2 and i set it at 1.
this weekend would be good. sometime on saturday maybe?
as far as prizes. i got nothing! i can make who ever wins an admin....

I'll probably get 200 ping, but it wont be too bad (even though I'm used to 15ms pings in Enemy Territory) since I used to play CS 1.3 on dialup without caring about the lag.

Oh, btw, I know howto make IP changes easier, goto no-ip.com, create an account, make a DNS to your current IP, then download a client. It should automaticly update the IP to the DNS then everyone can connect through the DNS instead. I use it for my webserver, and it is great.

ok ok i know i said this before but i'll say it again. because my ip keeps changing u'll either have to find my server on the internet list. or ur going to have to type in my dns in ur favorites. i think it was the map pack becasue i deleted the map pack then redownloaded just the maps and it's seems to be working. fingers crossed.

why is the rank done by kills-deaths? why not kills over deaths, with a minimum kill amount of 100 or so? that way nobody can go 10/1 and mess rank up bad.

as u can see the results are arranged by k-d ratio. there are multipal cases where someone has more kills then the other. check out pulsar and me. i have 500 somthing kills he has 300 somthing. he's number one becuase his kill/death ratio is greater then mine. get it? it updates every round. ur number updates every time u kill someone ur rank updates every time it changes maps.

Not bit rate... Tick rate. The default is 33 which means your server updates 33 times a second. Set it to 66 and you improve gameplay for everyone if your machine can handle it. In the startup line where it says...srcds_run -game cstrike +maxplayers 18 -port 27015 add -tickrate 66.

if you are using mani mod on it, then changing it to kills/deaths is very easy, its in the mani_server.cfg

just browse through it and you'll see it.

I just tried the server in the sticky and it didn't work.

I'd be happy to host a server if anyone is interested with PsychoStats, Mani Admin etc. Its a 10mb down 1mb up connection it would be dedicated on my gentoo server (P4 3.2c@3.6, 2gb of ram). Let me know if you are interested and and I can set it up for you guys.

:Dok.. ok. i know i said this before but i'll say it again. it's officially moving. Today at around 4-5 est... my server will be down!! the reason behind this is it's moving from my work <i>weak upload/download speed is killing the pings</i> to my apartment. The pings will be much better (3 megs down 1 meg up) opposed to 786/384(at work) depending on the traffic which is always :banana::banana::banana::banana:tiy because it's HALL road it should be up 15 minites once i get home. <b>THEN LET THE FRAGGING begain!!!</b> pings should be 150% better. and <b>NO pulsar</b> the scores are not going to be reset. im just moving my whole server. so hope to see more playing less lagging and more people on the server!!!

You have to re-add the server to favorites again with the DNS. BTW, just giving my opinion the server is alot better than it used to be ping went from 105 to 75. Great improvement Memphis :)

for the love of god make it at least 100Tic. it's such a huge difference.

I don't think 100 tick would make that much difference over 66 on a Source server when the LPB's rates are choked down a bit (I forget offhand, but I think something like 6000). 1.6 and before, yes, but the code is different now and the maps aren't as fast/optimized. Default tickrate is 33.

But I'll play with it after it goes live. Really need it full to tweak it just right.

Seconded! I think we need a CS1.6 server as well...I don't have CS:S - Maybe a UK / Europe based one? I'll have a dig and see if i can rope anyone into hosting for us.

an east-coast server would be sweet. am i the only person that hates the AWP? every server i join has hackers and most of them are running around with deagles and an awp. die awp, diee.

well i still need a p4 mobo to get mine running better, right now the best i got is a athlon 750 with 1gb of ram which can handel about 10 players
