Got these in last week for testing! Not too shabby for mid level parts.

Top out at 257 in memtest. Can bench a bit higher, but seem very cozy in my X2 setup ;)

Nice work John.

How much cheaper are they to 4000 Redline?

Whats your verdict in which to buy for everyday say?

Well as of now they are only like $20-30 cheaper per kit than the PC4000, so I'm not quite sure how to look at these value wise.

On one hand, 257 is a very good result and these are rated at 2-2-2-6 at 3.1v-3.2v so there "seems" to be quite a bit of headroom in these parts. However, on the other hand, it's always nice to know the part will do 250+ which the PC4000 part is rated at. To me $20-30 isn't a big deal, so I might spring for the PC4000 if I hadn't already had them. But alot of people don't have that luxury, and saving $20-30 on the ram, could net them a better heatsink, power supply etc... and help them to achieve better overall results with a more complete system.

I give this memory a hearty thumbs up and at $209 at newegg is a decent value. I wanna try some Redline 3200 if I can get ahold of some ;). Friend got some and says they are doing 250 in his machine(DFI board etc... tight timings).

Would be nice to see other user's experiences with the 3200/3500 Redline parts so we could become overall more comfortable with where these memories will fall in their overclocks.

Should be a review of some 3200's up soon on here I read :D

Well I think everyday, your not going to see much difference between 3500 and 4000 performance I think. Talking 10-20mhz ?

People may just want to save the money and take the 10-20mhz loss as they might not notice the difference anyways.

I'd say that's a logical conclusion. I'd like too see a few more posts re:users experiences before I could be super comfortable saying most will do 250+, but It's good to see these do relatively well.

It hink the main eimpediment to users buying these is the value UTT that is out there. I can say with the value UTT I've tested most was junk and couldn't get over 220-230 so while some get good kits, the value UTT is just that, value ram.

IIRC, that was at 3.4v... they're quite nice. All the redline sticks are within like 5% of each other... just amazing, makes you wnder how they make any $$. They must reject a LOT of IC's, lol... probably ending up in the competitor's sticks :stick:

These Redline HP3200 are only $140

They're rates at 2-3-2 but ignore that, they do PC4000 easy @ 2-2-2 :D

Newegg and us are trying to show that this part does well out there. we gave them a special on it since they are testing it in the ABS machines right now too. You guys can help by telling them to use us more..LOL :stick:

I've heard these sticks run pretty hot and active cooling is recommended. Is there anyone here running ok WITHOUT active cooling?

JNav89GT
06-16-2005, 04:33 AM
when Mushkin recommends active cooling, why would someone not use active cooling ????

yeah, i think thats called stawk (spelling? never used this word before)

but ya... my friends run stawk speeds at 3v and does fine, they do get alittle warm, but have been working great for a while now

06-16-2005, 02:15 PM
i think at 3v or under it is alright to run it without active cooling...just need reasonable case temps

What I mean is that these are dimms Mushkin tested but failed to make the grade for 4000 PC?

Just because they didn't bin for pc4000 speeds doesn't mean they won't do those speeds with slightly more voltage. Maybe mushkin bins them to run 250mhz 2-2-2 with 3.2v If it doesn't make the cut they go into the pc3500 sticks. But bump those sticks up to say 3.4v or so and they will do 250 2-2-2. :toast:

hard to say really
unless your at Mushkin and know how they bin. I assume the best go toward PC4000, but I don't think from the results I'm seeing that Mushkin is binning that aggressive that the lower spec parts will not still do well.

The 3200 and 3500 results, while not quite as good as the PC4000 parts still are quite good. :fact:
