This question recently came up at work. I need some hard proof one way or the other.

Yeah, I'll put something in. If it's asking about prices then it might say something like "Prices for the ...."

Always, I hate it when people don't. It makes me think their email is a virus or something.

Always, and if i dont reconise the email address from a sender who doesnt, i don't even spend the time to open the mail.

Always. Sometimes the email is nothing more than the subject!

I use the subject line to start off the message alot of the time like:

Subject: This is a...
Body: ...test message

I always use relevant subjects. It annoys me when people send me emails with subjects like "hi" or "stuff" and then expect me to know what they're talking about. :slap:

Always. I don't like it when I get a mail without anything in the subject line.

When I get a mail saying "Hi" from an unknown person, spam filter should take care of it :)

Always, not knowing what a mail is about kinda irritates me, so I try not to have that same effect on other people :p:

Always.

My spam filter permanently deep sixes messages without a subject and increments a counter so I can track the trend (it's decreasing)

It also dumps a subject line with more than one of the @#$%^&*()_+ charcters into a seperate junk folder. That trend is increasing. ! is excluded as it can be legit.

And like masterofpuppets I often use the subject line to start the message.

they just seemed pointless... the email is going to be read regardless... having a subject line is just more work

Funny enough, I never even use my email...no use for it really, not for me anyways

Always, though I do quite occasionally find it difficult to come up with a proper one that does the job.
