I think this is just a sample that will never be mass produced.
It needs 5x300W PSUs, so i guess you're right :D

I am wondering who can buy this thing...
Look at the size of this, small airplane engine

som1 buy one!
"Developed with the help of the British Aerospace wind tunnel engineers..."
"Pumping an impressive 25 cubic metres of air per second..." - thats close to 900CFM!!!
Overclocking Prescotts on air is now a viable option

Isn't the big one just a demo / mock up and the small one on the right the actual one ? I mean look at the base ... no ways it will fit on an actual mobo.

it's really cool. When we now have xtreme(big) air cooling i think we will need bigger mobos too :D

that actually makes sense, the smaller one actually looks like a really good cooler, but i would still like to see the big one in action lmao

And how come no ones mention the amount of noise it will make  100db, here we come :shakes:

Their selling point should be:
"Cool both your computer equipment and your house! Never before has home airconditioning been so easy!"
If the price tag is under 100 usd I would buy it just to try out what it feels like. A friend of mine has expressed his worry about his PC lifting off...
For the first time in history a PC would have to be connected to the walls of the house to prevent accidental pc/desk liftoff :p:

CoolerMaster 821 Garage, which comes with a tasteful variety of electronic doors and leaves enough room for even the largest GFX cards in SLI and a Nissan Micra too.
It looks as if the huge edition is simply a mockup to demonstrate the real cooler in "larger than lige" proportions.

Hexus was joking (poor journalism, I'd say). The picture they posted is probably just a bigger show-piece model of the actual heatsink.
Take a look at these pictures from AnandTech (http://www.anandtech.com/tradeshows/showdoc.aspx?i=2434&p=8):
http://images.anandtech.com/reviews/tradeshows/2005/Computex/day2/zalman9500.jpg
http://images.anandtech.com/reviews/tradeshows/2005/Computex/day2/zallman9500.jpg
The design of the heatsink looks great, btw. It looks like the fan blows air towards the back of the case where the exhaust fan can move the hot air out of the case. I only hope it's silent.

Still .... I want one :slobber:
:toast:
will these fit socket 775?
I have been searching hi and low for some news on this fan since I found it yesterday. I'm not sure what to make of it. If i can get one, however, I sure as hell am going to!
Looks like a tilted heatpipe version of the CNPS-7X00 sink...
Probably nice. But would've liked a 120mm fan instead :(

"

i think your calculations are WAAY off. if its pumping 25 cubic metres of air per second, then it has to pump way more than 900cubic feet a minute .

I've never been particularly strong in math, so Im not gonna argue with you ;)

1500 cubic meter (25 cubic meters * 60 seconds) = 52,971.9998583 cubic foot (per minute)

Lovely, just lovely! Now all they have to do is put on some stabilizers on the side of the thing (the big one). The stabilizers would keep the weight of the cooler off of the CPU. They would stretch out of the cooler and go outwards. The feet would be on the ground (desk/table), and off the mobo so as not to crush the mobo and voila, you have an airplane engine intel cooler that doesn't even crush your mobo or your processor! :toast: Just remember to not put your mobo sideways. Kind of like this:

Forget 150$, think 1k$ at least.
Whats special about the way Zalman heatsinks are constructed? Does anyone have any word on when the real version of this HSF will be released? I would totes def like to get one!

Zalman has been actually designing new concepts that weren't widely used or accepted at the time and make very successful product that is easy to use, peforms very well, and low noise. As usual, their construction is more biased to noise level than pure performance. Try this... slap big 120mm fan on top of CNPS 7700 and see how well it performs (high cfm/dba)... I bet it won't perform as good as XP120. On the other hand, grab a fan that only makes noise of CNPS 7700 and put one in xp120. Bet CNPS7700 will do better. Reason is because zalman designs their product with noise in mind first. As for newer one having less density of fins probably has more to do with less restrictive flow to reduce noise, as well as construction cost. Zalman never was top choice for people who wanted top end aircooling with ear muffs on....

high cfm 120mm on top of the 7700 helps it quite a bit.. same for the 7000's.

The fins create a larger surface area, which are copper and are better thermal conductors.
More copper fins could help, but will just add to the weight. The little fellas way enough, that mock up must weigh loads!
