Has anyone tried under volting the Geforce 6800GT to see how cool you could run? I'm wondering what a 1.2volt 3D would get me to clock speed wise rather than 1.3 and how cool I can get the card running.

I'd say it's worth a try at stock voltages, just play a round of doom 3 or something for an hour and see if it artifacts or acts funny. I doubt 1.1 volts will help. Have you heard of NiBiToR? You can edit your BIOS to give only 1.1 volts in 2D mode and then upto 1.5 (and sometimes even beyond that) in 3D mode and you can try turning your GT into an Ultra by messing with the RAM timings. I'd try making a 1.1v 2D and 1.2v 3D mode if I were you, if you need any help on making a BIOS I can make one for you real quick.

I use NiBiToR but it has no 1.2volts in 3d option nor could I find anything to do with the 1.1volts in 2D without having the same voltage in 3D with that progie. I would like to try 1.2volts in 3D all I need is how to do that when NiBiToR doesn't have the option. I tried 1.1volts in 3D but my card didn't fully like the voltage quite that low in 3D mode but it ran fine but had what I'd call spotting from time to time from I guess slightly low voltage.

go to www.mvktech.net and look for other BIOS' some have the option for 1.2 volts, and just flash with nvflash -5 -6 <biosfile.extension>

I checked the bios files and I have my cards bios and flashed my cards bios before and can't find a 1.2volt 3d bios for my card or other cards that are 6800GT APG bios with a 1.2volt selectable option. Thanks for trying to help, I happen to know that site myself.

The 6800GT's can take up to 120c + heat and run perfectly non overclocked i dont see why you want to do this really.

if I can run cooler, save a bit of power why not? Heck I have my CPU overclocked by 230Mhz but I have my voltage set lower than the default and stable. Cooler running equipment and lower power usuage with good performance sounds good to me

Well if you want to know my 6800Gt runs perfectly fine 1.1v @ 400/1100 so if you want go and do that go ahead.

at 1.1volts I artifact a bit no matter what speed. but oh well I guess 1.3volts will have to do... looks like you must of got a good GPU batch.
