Hey all,

Im in the need of a new board and dont wanna have to worry about bios flashes.

I had an ABIT board in mind. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813127197

Does this board need flashed?

Can you guys help me out?

If you guys have any recommendations on boards that dont need to be flashed, that would be great. Thanks in advance.

Why would you worry about flashing BIOS?
It's an intended procedure, fully supported and warranted by a mnufacturer, to be carried on by an end-user if required.
Keep in mind that BIOS updates resolve compatibility, stability, performance and other issues and generaly you would want it to be up to date, same as lets say your OS, drivers and antivirus ect...
Many manufacturers (such as Abit) include BIOS flash utilities, which are fully automated - all you'll have to do is launch it and follow the instructions.

No board needs 'to be flashed' in general. You can work with any board right out-of-the-box in basic..

What is that has to do with anything he asked?

sorry if i sounded dumb. I have never flashed a bios before and havent worked with mobos that much. I also had the DFI boards in mind to buy. I have heard that DFI is better for overclocking, and i would like to become more involved with overclocking. So, which brand (Abit,DFI) would be best?

P.S. I dont need Sli and i dont wanna spend over 150. thanks for the reply Badong, that cleared some things up for me. :)

Badong, I heard some mobos won't even boot up with new chips unless you flash em.
Anyone knows if Neo4 needs a flash to support venice/san diego?

Then DFI all the way :) It's a great board in all terms, one of the best on the market today, especially when overclocking involved.
You can start at stock first, while learning, understanding and making progress here at XS:toast:

Everything is possible :) But you have to keep in mind that newer manufactured boards will be already flashed at factory with most current BIOS available...
The only related case i ever encountered with, was Abit's AV8 board with Winchester CPU... We had to dig up FX-53 from some rig in order to flash it :)
