 VIA K8T800 socket 939 : what is maximum FSB you ever got?
My friend(ianho@lowyat.net) manage to do 310MHz FSB on his k8t800 board... anybody did this far before?

Is it a new WR for K8T800 chipset FSB ? never seen anybody go this far before....

is that board k8t800 or the pro version? the locks were iffy on the chipset to say the least but afaik works 100% of the time with any divider locked in, just 1:1 the lock wouldn't always work. so yes, high fsb is piss easy on that chipset in anything but 1:1. from what i recall it was mainly the a8v asus boards that had some major issues hitting such high fsb, they most often wouldn't break 270mhz.

its more likely to be the unofficial record as no one really uses the chipset for high overclocking and haven't for ages. tis a really nice chipset but just not as easy to hit as good speeds 1:1 and they also have a lack of well made boards with the needed voltage options.

Varzmaster posted this a while back on a romanian forum:

Abit AV8 / Winchester 3000+ @ 5X340 / 256MB Corsair 3200XL @ 340Mhz 3-4-4-10

http://xtremesystems.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=31498&stc=1

And with 4X multi (memory running at only 275Mhz, even if CPU-Z is showing 344):

Yep. though mine couldn't run 3dmark, or rather anything 3d at over 255htt~ with 66mhz AGP lock :slap:
iirc it was a memory / lock problem
running mem @ 266, or AGP lock @ 74mhz fixed the problem... totally messed up board imho.

yeah, 3d stable was very difficult iirc, that seems to often be the case with via chipsets, or maybe just on ath 64 stuff from them, not sure, i can hit hella fsb's with a divider, but tbh it doesn't help performance in the slighest, running 275 1:1 or at a guess 340/275 with a divider, given same mem speed same bandwidth will be achieved and almost identical performance. but above 270 or so 3d stable on my a8v, av8, and i think one of the gigabyte boards was not really possible.

Nice fsbs :woot:

When i set the cpu to 300*8=2400mhz, then the cpu is stable( i tested with Prime95) but the 3d doesn't work :( . I use mem divider 266, becouse my rams don't go together upper than 430mhz.
Why not work the 3d?

So what you mean is just put mem on a divider and agp lock to 74MHz and its all 3d stable for 24/7 use?

Just curious cause mine is not 3d stable as well and if this solves the probs then I'm gona try it.

Well, I just got my water cooling setup n running fine now. Finally got down to Priming n 3DM05 benchies. I'm still watching my temps with the new set up so I'm still being conservative with the OC. Right now am at 290X9. 3DM05 without a problem. I've been benching it like mad all day trying to get to the top of Lowyat 8 pipelines rankings. Now at #5 haha. So yeah, I can say 3D is rock solid at 290X9. B4 this I cudn't even run 3DM05 when I had the AGP fixed at 66. Then I heard sum1 say try 74. So I tried it n it works a charm. Been Priming 290X9 for the past 5 hours. If all goes well, will Prime n bench 300X9 2moro. BTW thanks 4 the welcome :toast:

Well, this just my 1st session of Prime n 3DM05 since getting my Venice 3000+ n AV8 combo. Pretty decent results I wud say. Gonna push for more soon. But here's the screenies of 290X9.

N here's the ORB link showing the 290X9 setting passing the 3DM05 with flying colors. Hahaha. Who dares to say the AV8 can't do 3D above 260HTT now?

Hope u don't beat my 345HTT. Hahaha. Coz I only managed to beat ure 344 score by 1HTT. BTW, did ure AV8 show the 4 Multi in the BIOS by default? I had to trick the BIOS into showing the 4 multi on mine. The default on mine shows the lowest multi as 5. I only knew there was a 4 multi hiding sumwhere in there coz I saw ure CPUz screenie showing 344X4.

I'm not sure bout that but I don't think it actually harms the HDD even if there r side effects. I think worst case wud just b corruption of Windows. I've been Priming n 3DM05 benching my rig at 290/74/37 the past few days n have not had any problems.

apparently...
Both 74mhz agp and/or 266mem divider seem to help to get 3d stable on the AV8.

I never got to properly test @ 74mhz AGP as i had a 9800pro at the time that i had the AV8, and that didn't like over 71mhz~ AGP. I tried 8:2:1 agp/pci divider and that seemed to work pretty well

I remember getting through a few hours of 3dmark2003 looping @ 280htt at one stage with mem @ "266" setting. I didn't get further as the AGP wasn't locked (8:2:1) and thus my 9800pro was crapping out.
It was pretty useless though - my memory was running well under 200mhz with those settings.

moral of the story - muck around with the locks/pci-agp dividers and memory dividers and see what you can get!

Hello all,

I must say I have been waiting to see a post like this for over a month. I bought myself an AV8 Third Eye and a 3200+ Venice and I have been losing my mind ever since. I think I have tried everything in the world to get this thing to be stable in 3D when OCing over 250 HTT and it just doesnt want to work for me. Last night as a goof I spent 4 hours trying all sorts of different things until I came across the fact that if I set the LDT Multi at 1X I can get this pig to OC up to 267 HTT x 10 at 1.6 volts and stable in 3D. But with the Multi that low is it really worth it ? Also with this crappy Kingtons HyperX I have I end up running 3-4-4-8 timings. Im going to try ianho's settings I hope they work. Anyone have any suggestions on better memory for this rig. I have the following setup.

ABIT AV8 Third Eye BIOS 19
AMD A64 3200+ Venice currently at 2.5 Ghz
Kingston HyperX PC4000 3-4-4-8 blech
W.D. Raptor 74Gig
Zalman CNPS-7000B-Cu
BFG 6800 Ultra OC w/NV Silencer 5
Leadtek Winfast Tv Tuner
SoundBlaster Live !
NEC DVD-RW/CD-RW
Antec SLK-3700BQE
400 watt PSU

I was thinking even the cheap Corsair Value Ram has to better than the stuff I have now. It was good when I had a P4 setup to run at 250 FSB at 1:1. But for AMD rig I need low latency not speed.

Thanks in advance

Wow, I must say that this thread has helped me go from 2.54 max 3d on my 3200 venice to 2.65 in about 10 minutes. I lowered my htt to 1 like BUNGL3 tried to do, and it works! I have tried f-ing everything else except this. I still can't imagine why this helps 3d stability in overclocking, but it does. BTW, my superpi and 3dmark benches have only gotten better, so the low htt doesn't seem to be bottlenecking me as of yet.

SWEET-ASS.

Gonna see if I can push any further!!
