im building a dual lv xeon cruncher and plan on using an asus pc-dl. right now i have a 512 stick of pc3200 sitting around and i wanna use that so i dont have to buy more ram. so does running dual chanel gain much performance for D2OL ? this rig wont be doing anything but crunching so i dont care bout performance losses in other areas. i would think it would but im not sure how much memory bandwidth impacts this program so any insite on this would be very much apreciated.

im going to say no 1 stick of 512mb should be fine for any cruncher you can build. Im sure Rodzilla or Jeff (or anyone else with a Xeon rig for that matter) will be along shortly to back me on this since it doesnt sound good coming from someone who doesnt even own a Xeon rig himself.

It probly won't matter much, but I would think it would just slightly maybe have you loose alittle since your running 4 instances of D2OL

Testing with dbench you only gain a couple seconds off with dual channel is about it.

just another question if anyone could awnser it, is anyone watercooling their xeons ? if you are, how much better of an oc did you get ? was it worth the cost of 2 cpu blocks ?

water cooling can get as high as 3.6 with a really nice setup, most only top out at 3.4 though.

with multiple cpu's dun u need atleast one dimm filled for each of teh cpus? cuz there are 2 sets of DIMM's on dual cpu boards arent ther?

i thought that was only with opterons and i think even then its optional, you just gain memory bandwidth. but im not 100% sure
