View Full Version : This PQI ram 4x512, $33 a stick.... read
I've been out of the OC'ing business for awhile, but to me this ram seems incredible. I cant find the limits of it, and I used to run VERY good Bh5.
Right now im running 250 2.5/3/2/7 with 2.5v, and my CPU just wont go any higher so I cant find the limits!! Remember, this is CHEAP $33 a stick ram, which I got 4 of and have only tested 1 so far.
Im guessing since my CPU undervolts like CRAZY that my Vdimm is too, but I cant monitor it. I wouldnt be surprised if its running 2.5/3/2/7 2.4v DDR. ok really, ive been out of OC'ing for quite some time, is this not a good oc?? my god this seems WOW to me, so now im going to try little tighter timings and the other 3 sticks, and get some screenies. :woot: so far im just running the 1 stick though so we will see =)
not bad, what are the chips on them?

Need a lot more information to determine if you have something special going on there. How about some system specs to start, and a link or product part for the memory. Welcome back to the OC'ing world. :)

they all say elixir N2DS25680CT-5T

I now have them at 2-2-3-5 2.45V 243MHz. For some reason with these timings, they wont do any more mhz with ANY more volts, and I tried to 3v but wouldnt finish booting. But 2-2-3-5 2.45v seems stable!!
2-2-2-5 wont even post, no matter what btw.
EDIT: Priming now 2-2-3-5 2.5v 243 rock solid. but wont go any higher really with more volts, so probly gunna have to loosen the timings a bit

MSI 865P Platinum
I got 3 more sticks to test though

a bit of burn in wouldnt go amiss??
a bit of burn in wouldnt go amiss??
They had 2-3 days with 2.9v to burn in :)
ok here are my results.
stick 1 243 2-2-3-5 2.55v
stick 2 235 2-2-3-5 2.55v
stick 3 232 2-2-3-5 2.55v
stick 4 215 2-2-3-5 2.55v
Just did a test like that to get an idea which ones were the best, so I can put them dual channel and do better tests. They all ran prime95 on mem test mode for about 10min to , and really they wouldnt go any higher then that. Even the 4th stick is WELL worth $33 I paid!!
Now its time to try with the best 2 at a time :toast:
ok I think I found the sweet spot.
2.5-2-3-6 243mhz 2.5v
my CPU sucks , so I can only go to 243mhz FSB - 3400mhz stable :(
but 2.5-2-3-6 were the fastest timings in some mem tests and it runs stable at 2.5v at 243 with those timings!! friggin' great for $33 a stick !
edit: messed up pic

id, i would say 2-2-3-6 should be better
try memtest86+
if 2.5-2-3-6 is better than 2-2-3-6, then it sounds like your getting errors somewhere in the memory
also try to find a medium stability and test 2-2-3-6 in bandwidth, the cas of 2 at a lower frequency (within reason) should yield a better bandwidth, effency, and speeds
it wont run 2 with 2 sticks in dc for some reason.

hmm, o, lol... =/
wierd
just tried again...
243 2-2-3-6 2.5v 2x512 = no post
243 2-2-3-6 3.0v 2x512 = no post
243 2-2-3-6 2.5v 1x512 = boots in to windows, but didnt test stability
oh well difference between 2.5 and 2 is so small, im not a bencher anymore anyways. these are still worth $33 a stick

yea, but cas2 is nice when your maxxed at your fsb and need the extra bandwidth
the ram you have is extremely nice for its price
Decided to read the PDF for the memory
0.11nm and max of 3.6v are the important specs :)
here are my 24/7 new stable settings
243FSB 1:1 2.5-2-3-6 2.8v
I can run lower volts, but im running my mother board in Ultra-PAT mode, so I had to up the voltage to 2.8v. But it is rock solid.
This ram with looser timings and up to 3.6v would get past 260 easy

Damn nice for Intel Platform!
Someone test these on A64. I might have to pick some up for reviewing.

just ordered 2 sticks
just ordered 2 sticks
cool. let us know how they do!
btw I cant remember what is faster...is it better to have a lower RAS to CAS delay or RAS Precharge??
last update. My room was 95f degrees all day long, but this ram was chugging along with prime95 and memtest all day long, 243 2.5-3-2-6 with 2.8v no probs. I should test it without Ultra-PAT and lower volts :p:

IMO they are Samsung chips ? It would be nice to know.
Regardless of the chips, these are an excellent buy ;)

Hmm I may have to order a set if I don't make the AMD tech expo and blow my computer budget for the next two months.
ya when I got these sticks I prayed it atleast ran stock speeds and volts!! lol!!!!! :slobber:
2.5v in bios!! doing prime95 just fine, single channel. Motherboard wont go higher then this really.
I want a new mobo to find its limits soooooo badly!!!
I try ram dividers too but mobo stalls out at 261.
Edit: memtest + 258mhz 2-3-2-5 2.5v = AOK

haha definitely. My Tccd doesnt even run at 2.5V
hmmm I think this program might be buggered??

When I try to boot with those timings and boost FSB it cant do those speeds, but when I use this program it does it??it shows in cpuz =(. my FSB was 261 2.5v for sure but not so sure my timings were that great. blah retry. gunna retry it with cas2.5 instead

hows it do with 2.8-2.9v?
Need a64 results... intels vary too much and there arent enough tweakable options :D

dunno how it does, so far 2.5v is all its needed.

wait so you cant boot 261 2-3-2 2.5v? then how do you run memtest :stick:I wanna see some screenies of stability like spi 1 mil etc.
memtest in windows + prime95.
btw I think that this 865P tweak utility and MSI CoreCenter isnt setting my clocks right. Im going to try not to use these and just try to use BIOS settings now

memtest in windows is useless. it passes my ram at 300mhz, but memtest finds en error in like 3 seoncds
this was just a quick, i was playing FFXI all day and lots of heavy multi-tasking with 250 2.5-2-3-5 and 2.8v, which I set in bios and forget.
Im confused though why CoreCenter and the 865 Tweaker does NOTHING at all!
For example, I set 3500mhz 250fsb 2.5-2-3-5 2.7v in bios run sandra... and then I set it to 258 and same sandra scores?? CPuz shows it changes...
but then I lower my FSB down to 200 - 2800mhz and still..... same scores...
2.5-3-2-5 with 250mhz and low volts is definetely working, but hmm this is confusing.
btw memtest86 always has worked the same as windows one for me, ive used both quite alot

Its impossible to work just as effectivly within windows. :stick:
Run superpi at a low speed, then at the overclocked speed. 1M and 32M. this will show true stability, and if it is actually changing speed. 2.8->3.5ghz should be one hell of a superpi 1M change.

hmm I cant see why DOS memtest is any better? sure it may get 100 megs more to work with, but chances are if the first 900 are good the other 100 is too. ive used both versions quite a bit, just memtest in windows alot easier then sticking in the ultimate boot CD and whatnot
actually this is really the first time I've used clockgen, corecell or anything like this to OC. Kinda weird it showed changes in CPUz but didnt actually change dont you think? also it started to get really unstable at 261fsb+. weird, i think i'll stick to BIOS oc's =P ive never been a fan of superPI stress test, usually run 2 instances of prime95 and windows memtest to test stability, its always worked best for me and the P4 =)
Todays my Bday so gunna go do something, ill play around with it some more later

Not as effective? thats 200mb of ram your NOT checking is 20% of your whole system if you have 1gb! Boot cd? its in the bios for the DFI NF4's.
LOL? first 100meg ok so your assuming the rest is?!! :D
superpi is a good way of showing memory stability...... just a quick run.. doesnt have to be tweaked for speed, just the fact that it completes error free. :stick:

Yeah Elixir CT's are pretty nice. They dont take voltage at ALL. But I have a pair doing 2.5-3-2-6 @ 250 stock vdimm.
Of course these are the best two of the ten sticks I bought.
I have elixir BT's and they aren't nearly as good.
