Ok wasup everyone, yeah i registered a while back but I never posted. I am pretty good in overclocking, i got my 2.6 to 3.4 on stock intel cooling. Well YEah I got a Cooler Master Hyper 6 the other day, and i installed it and at stock speeds it idles at 38*C and at load it is at 46*C, compared to stock cooling, idle = aobut 37*C and load is at 48*C. I dont get what is wrong.

I installed it correctly, put on some AS5, not to little, not to much. I got the fan that came with it blowing on it. My ambient case temp is 23.8*C. And my specs are:

Pentium 4 2.6Ghz 800fsb 512kb (northwood)
abit ic7-g max II
Kbyte 1gb pc3200
nvidia 5600xt 128mb
7 case fans, +1 delta 92mm (67cfm)
Linkworld 430W psu 12V-19a

Pull it off and check the contact area to make sure its 100%, this would be the first step in a diagonsis.

Make sure it's aligned the right, with heatpipes and all.

Im pretty sure I aligned it correctly.

Im gonna try to pull it off and try to reapply the AS5 to see if it will get better. Im supposed to get better temps right? I looked on reviews, they had idle temps of like 30*C, i want that. lol. So yeah I will pull it off and tell you guys the results.

with your ambient at 23.8 i doubt you will see 30c idle from this cooler, make sure you apply the AS5 in the corrext manner just likeit says on AS's website.

I have a Hyper 6 also.
Excellent heatsink, u may get almost the same as the ambient temp.
My P4 2.26@2.72 1.625v, ambient around 23C and my system idle around 28-32C.
Load around 40-43C, depens on airflow in the case.

Well currently I set everything to stock and my temps are:
Idle- 38*C
Load- 46*C
Man, my stock h/s performed almost the same. I dont know, do you guys think it is true that you have to wait for the AS5 to cure for best results?

If your getting good contact with the core, the only other thing I would suggest is improving the air flow in the case.

What case are you using ??

Try opening the case up and see what your temps do. If they improve significantly then you have air flow issues.

I got good air flow, i have a thermaltake v1000a , 7fans, +1 delta at 67CFM. and 3 fans on my power supply. I think it might be that my h/s is hanging on the cpu, but it looks like its on there good because when i hold it up to the cpu the temps dont change at all.
