This is another reason. Gosh thats $15,000 a year if you wanna do things right and give him a happy childhood! There is no way ill be able to afford anything else then! My parents think ill make $30,000 a year as a network technician. I think it ought to be more but lets go by the $30k figure. we take off 20% for taxes, this is just $24k then! I have to feed, cloth and house myself! Seeing how expensive houses are($372k median here) I of course will need to settle for a condo, can get an "ok" one for around $150k with 1-2 beds, 1-2 baths in an "ok" location thats neither great nor bad. Building may be a little old but not falling apart. Nice condos will run me at least 1/4 million and condos much below $150k arent "desirable" bad location, lots of crime, etc. Itll be a while before I pay off the loan to my dad(id rather he get the interest than the bank and hes fine with that) I know theres many reasons I dont want kids, but $$$$ is a very valad excuse.

Kids are more than worth that amount, once you have one you wont even think about it. There is more to life than money, as long as you are healthy and your family is, life should be good.

LoL..i have 2 kids, and a third on the way...yes they are expensive...VERY...

but you know what...when they do those things that you have never seen before, like them talking and walking, or riding a bike for the first time, the monetary cost is not much of an issue. In fact, the only reason why money is important to me at all is for new parts ....

GF your what 22 or so, if that's a starting job and you make 30k then over time, if you do your work well, you can get promoted :) more money coming in.

If you don't think you can support a child, then don't worry about it for now. Over time you'll make more money, meet (or may have already met) that woman in your life. You've got the rest of your life ahead of you :)

maybe they wont let you adopt, But really you dont know what your missing.
Sleepless nights
that faint aroma of piss and sick
the constant nagging for the latest whatever
Told fave "ARE WE THERE YET"
and all the other crap that parents put up with yet would not give it up for the world

I am 23 here and yes me and my parents believe $30k a year is a good starting wage but I hope I get promoted fast, median house prices here are like $380k now! Maybe I should buy a piece of dirt in the middle of the woods and a $30k moble house and drag it over there :( I could get a condo but a fairly good one is next to impossible below $150k and were really talking more like $200k! $30k is nothing after taxes, bills, food and supporting my hobby. I might be able to save $10k a year.....itll take 20 years to get my own condo(adjusted for inflation) I read that you really can only afford to buy a home up to 3x what you make. This means ill only be able to afford a $90,000 condo and even that is pushing it. Ill really want to make at least $50k a year then at least I can set aside half my money. Theres many other reasons I dont want children. I dont even want to ever marry

 I said the same thing when I was around 18 years old. You obviously do not have the mindframe for these matters as of yet, so it isn't a matter that you should be too concerned with. Consuming your thoughts with these types of things will only cause you to worry. Live your life, work, and move up the ladder of life gradually. Everything will eventually fall into place at the right time. Some people are ready for "the family life" at an early age. Others don't bother putting their foot into the door until they're a ripe old age of 50.

Everything will fall into place. Keep your head up. ;)

Kids are what make life worthwhile. You dont even realize that until you have one. Then you hate the little beast for the first month or so because it deprives you of every ounce of energy. No sleep whatsoever. And then you get that first smile from him/her that shows you that they recognize you and it is all over. Man I cant even imagine life without a child now. It is just magical.
It is alright you think this now GF. I probably thought the same thing at your age but trust me you will change your mind. Especially when you meet the woman that you will marry and she wants to have kids.

Heh, but if you can get rid of the family life is a 1/3 easier. I get the mindset thing but I think that my mind at any age would make me a terrible parent.

But families are what life is all about ! Nothing better than watching your children grow and having your family around you, yes it may cost money, but money is there to be spent not hoarded.
