you should better take a P5P800 (not "S") and a cheap P4 2.4-2.66

The Celeron D got really bad performance and high heat output, tried one I borrowed from a friend, also a 330. You can get around 3,6-3,8 GHz with stock cooler, but performance still sucks. Why not recommand him a Sempron setup?

The hot, still cold pentium cpus today are the pentium-m Dothan and Sonomas, you really should browse around on the forum and look at its overclocking capabilities ;) I wouldnt have bought anything else than a pentium-m for overclocking today. It's a bit more expensive than a pentium 4, but yet its performance in games/web browsing with firefox at 2.0GHz is equal to a pentium 4 EE. Thats my advice:)

Ah, I see. Then I agree with Kamerat; a sempron would be a better choise than the Pentium D, if it fits your friends budget that is :) Especially if its going to be a low-end gaming rig.

Pick up this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131484R)
and buy my 730 from me for $140 shipped, its a pull from a dell 9300
and pick up the adaptor for $50
total $246 which is a small $50 difference, and you should be able to get by with a smaller PSU (do you have a fry's close by at all they usually have really cheap antec cases with psu).

he's leaning more toward a sempron 3100+....with a total of 436.00 ...which ain't bad..plus we'll o/c it to about 23-2400 mhz...i think i'll stick with what he says ...lol but if i build a pc for myself agian i'll definately rememer the pentium m
