Have the opportunity to get a cheap is dothan system up and running.
Can get a 715 for ~ 50 quid, P4P800 and of course the convertor. Total ~ 140.

Is it worth trying to find a P4C instead though??

Just wondering, will a standard P4 cooler fit this ok? Or will it need custom mounts?
Also any other advice on setup? Can i just plug the convertor and go? or will a bios flash be required first?

Cheers :D

The P4P800 should be fine, no you cannot use a normal P4 Skt 478 cooler on this board. The adapter comes with a cooler that should be good for at least 2.6. I'm able to run mine at 3.1 just by changing the fan. :)

Wow, thats quite a deal. So these dothan's seem to be insane after all. Is there anyway to make an adaptor for the adaptor for other heatsinks/waterblocks/evaps?

Ideal, does the bios need flashing to a "dothan compatible version" (ie 1009b) before installing the chip? Or will it boot ok and allow flashing?

you will need to flash the bios first then install the P-M.
