Just now I reseated my stock x800xtpe cooler and put some fresh AS5 onto the core. My temps dropped about 20C to 63C max load. My card really turned out to be a good overclcoker... I think. I kept pushing it and I got to 590/605 with no artifacts in the ati tool artifact scanner in 10 min (yes thats stock cooling), so I upped the core by 5 mhz to 595, and that is when funny things started happening. I waited for 5 min while checking for artifacts and got absolutely none and then my whole comp kind of froze. I could still move my mouse, but it was the only thing I could move. When I clicked places nothing would happened and my keyboard wouldn't respond. Ok so I reset, got back into windows fine put it to 595/605 again and tested it for artifacts for 15 min this time and it was perfectly fine and artifact free so I went up to 600/605 and about after 5 min of artifact scanning my whole screen dissappeared for about 2 seconds and then went back to normal, and STILL no artifacts. I nearly crapped my pants cause I thought I had almost killed another really expensive piece of hardware so I put it back to stock and started writing this post... I fail to understand this cause if my card was crapping out shouldn't it artifact first? I have never heard of something like this happening. One theory I have is that my psu as of right now is a really :banana::banana::banana:ty 400 watt generic one with craploads of flactuations and I am amazed my system is running with all the stuff I have in it, could it be that my card isnt getting enouth power? In that case wouldn't my card just lock up and not just like stop working for a few seconds then go right ahead? And no it wasnt a cable connection problem I am SURE of that. Could someone please clear this up for me? Cause I am confused. :hm: Also can a video card really die if you oc it too much with stock voltage cause I heard it was nearly impossible. I am staring to think it is possesed. :shock2:

Thx in advance I really hope someone could explain this. Peace... :peace:

Sounds like your video card was throttling and kicking out the driver. The driver would then reload itself, hence the the screen disappearing and returning.

I'm a little noob on errors when clocking, but afik thats to much core wich seems to be logic when you upped it by 5 MhZ..

Can that do permenant damage to my card my card?

I don't think so, that's why it throttles so you don't break it. Might want to see what more people have to say though.
