Hi,

I've just had a quick look at the team stats. Where are all the folders? Most of em haven't folded since last year plus there are thousands of members on the XS forums yet there are only a handful of F@H members surely they cant all be playing games constantly ? I think we need a recruitment drive e.g post to the top of every XS forum with a pointer to this one along with link to F@H download and website. Watchyathink?

I fold for both teams.I hope to step up my F&H production soon(waitingfor parts).I want my first place back !
Maybe some others will follow.

DONT GIVE UP ON 36362 ! It's a strong team with a good leader.

The problem is we are making such great progress in D2OL it has over shadowed the F&H team.
Serveral members has multiple P/C's so I think some could be persueded to fold for F&H.

CALLING ALL FOLDERS....WHAT YOU GOT :stick:

Uh ok how does this help thew team ?
Did you respond in the F&H section so we could talk you into it ?
What do you care about ?
What do you not like about leaving your system running if your not there ?
Is your system not stable enough to fold ? :stick:
You could always let it run in the background when you are there.

Note: I'm not trying to crap on this thread just trying to dig up some cruchers

1. No
2. I care about my family, my computer, my Job, my animals, pc modding, gaming, hacking. Ect that explain it enough ?
3. Im a computer hacker, my step dad is also he used to work for the government, i dont like my pc on when im not around for a reason
4. My system is 100% stable has been for a year almost
5. The things i do, require to much processor and memory to have a program like that running in the backgroud

I posted here because i felt like saying i dont care about folding to respond to the question in the first post.

Ok thxs for your reply.I just hope the 85% of the other members who don't fold,do not feel the need to come in and let us know they don't care about folding. :(

Just for the record...I care about your family too.
Best of luck with your adventures in whatever you do.

I have two systems that can fold, I love the project and it's intentions, I don't pay for my power supply, one of the systems is use for code development while my family use the other for browsing and other petty project works, but runs idle all most of the time, but I won't be folding until.......

Hi guys, sorry not posted for ages, i haven't really had a stable rig to use since my wc loop leaked in my shuttle and took the xp-m and 9700pro with it. I'm currently using a 233mhz iMac g3 which isn't very xtreme, so i can't really fold; however, i just bought a prommy mach 1 and an athlon xp 1700 JIUHB on ebay so in a couple of weeks i'll switch teams from CustomPC to XS to help with our cause, and maybe later world domination ;) .

is folding with my only computer even worth it? is it like...100% load?

pythagoras
06-19-2005, 01:22 PM
Lots of people run with just one machine, you would be a great asset to the team :fact:

Its designed to run at 100% when it can, the client operates in idle mode, which means it only uses what is left free from all other processes----you shouldnt even notice it ;)

John.

yes! yes! do it.... as pythagoras said, it willl only take what your not using eg: youre idle, and away from your pc, so it takes 100% of your CPU time, then you come back and browse the net, so it uses like 70%, then you get bored and play hl2, it stops using cpu time, as hl2 takes priority over it, so you don't really notice it. and remember, your doing it 'coz Folding saves kittens!!! :toast:

wasnt there an article stating that d2ol is basically dead and that it is useless. I think folding is a much better distributed computing project then d2ol in terms of usefulness.

is it tricky to set up?

DeltZ

ok i've joined...anyway to like...minimize it to system tray?

jason32287
06-20-2005, 03:36 PM
if you download the text console it gives you a option to run it in the background.

pythagoras
06-20-2005, 03:48 PM
I take it you downloaded the console version?

If so the best way to minimise it is to use trayit:

http://www.teamcti.com/trayit/trayit.htm

run that program then a ctrl and click on minimise will send the app to the system tray.

John.

Its much easier to just use the text version. It uses less resources and it has the feature build into it. Unless you like to watch the animation thingy. :D

I dont think its dead, but Free-DC thinks that they should focus on some other folding program. Our team is doing EXREMELY well, #3 in world. Just like u guys, we have about 260 members, and I think only100 fold. We are on our way to #1, and will soon be there, but the Dutch power cows wont give up without a fight.

to use is more simple..but to configure the graphical client it´s more easy..justa install and done..almost.

I give in the way of 400+pts a day through another forum. Not only does folding help you test stability, it also may end up saving your life one day, or maybe the life of your kids, your parents, your whoever.

You gonna throw that chance away?

I installed F@H on my home computers and at work. That's 3 machines. LoL, I hope my parents don't mind and I can add another 2 systems =).

Feels weird folding for StanFUrd, but I guess since I'm saving lives I won't diss them this time around.

Allright I read all the posts and I agree this is a much better cause. I've been running seti@home for years and ET has yet to show up at my door (actually I was more interested in the distributed computing technology, I never though ET would show up). I was one of the top 50-60 producers in Canada for two years probably the biggest private (non commercial, non school, non team) producer in the country. Over the next week, I'll switch up to 20 Ghz of CPU to your team initially with more to follow as I get to it. Most of my systems are Opterons, some are Athlons, all but my own desktop system is a dually (hell that will change to a dually too as soon as I get a x2 chip). I use a SAN for everything but my private box and my laptop so adding extra boxes is pretty easy. I could care less about the power bill, I generate my own though the more systems I add the more of a cut I take in what I can sell back to the grid.

I'm actually trying to buy a blade farm off a company I know that is going broke. Does this product run on Unix (AIX or Solaris)? Some of the Sun boxes I have could potentially be helpful if so. And I've the got the use of an HP Superdome for a couple months while I do some high level database performace tuning - I only use it about 4 hours a day while I run tests the rest could be allocated until I'm done with it and send it back. It's configured with 32 Itanium CPU's. Any how, looks interesting and I'm willing to participate but the leaders should do more on the forumns to promote the cause, I found this thread through idle surfing (not a slam, just an observation). :toast: to those who work hard on the team.

and a big :stick: :slapass: to anyone who would respond to this thread with a "I'm not doing it" response. Waste of bandwidth. If you wanna post that you're not helping then add a joke on the end to amuse us at least.
