Just noticed that they have a copper vorsion of an already great cpu cooler. Anyone else no about these or even using one? How do they perform?

They perform about 1 degree better then the original XP-90. I think it is not worth it considering the extra cost and being much heavier.

I thought they were quite alot better than the XP-90. Some people have found them beating the XP-120.

From what I have seen the XP-90C has maybe a 1-3C (depending on the cfm of the fan) advantage. It is not a bad heatsink at all. It is actually the best available, but it is uip to you to decide if it is worth it to get it over the XP-90. I myself do not think it is worth it.

The onyl mistake made by Thermalright for the XP-90C was using clip mounting considering how heavy it is.

lol the weight is really not a problem it is hardly possible for it to actually rip out your socket from your mobo. And it performes 1-3C better than XP-120 and around 3C better than xp-90.

forum search would have answered any questions you had about this, there have been a ton of threads about this cooler.

When you consider a price increase of about $20 and a weight increase of over two times, I'd say the aluminum version is a better heatsink. Not to mention the copper version comes with a new retension bracket with backplate so you have to pull your mobo to mount it properly.

Yes, the copper version can outperform the XP-120, but that is because the original XP-90 was only a couple degrees behind the XP-120 anyway. I'd choose the XP-90 over the XP-120 or XP-90C any day just because of cost and compatibility. If you want a few degrees better performance at that point lap the base to 2000 grit and do the same to your processor's heatspreader (they're never flat).

If you need it cooler than the standard XP-90 with the 92mm, 68CFM Panaflo & AS5, then concentrate on improving case cooling, as this combination has proven to keep A64's within 7C to 12C of case temp. :fact:

Or look at high end watercooling or more extreme options. In all honesty though, a regular XP-90 with a medium speed fan should be all you need.

I agree with both Dave and cartmanea.

Got one too, I don't really care about performance. It just looks so much better than silver =D
