Well I have windows 2003 evaluation edition which I use as a server and currenttly for crucnhing. Now the problem is, I added the admin to the group "remote desktop users" or something but when I try to login it says I can't due to an account ristriction :s
is there something I need to set besides adding the user to that group?
thx in advance

No. Lame XP and Win2003 did restrict this and for example not allowing the account name to be same as machine name is quite a limiting and bad thing, after all... :(
I stick with W2k server, no problemo there :D
...okay, on second tough, you maybe should check the "Local security rules" (dunno if I re-translated in back from Czech to English the same way as it is originaly, so... use your comon sense...) if this can't be disabled, as in XP is possible to enable there the possibility to use empty password for terminal logon... (default-off) ;)
Worth check, mate! :stick:

Did you allow interactive logon to the Win2003 box for the account you are trying to connect?

You dont need to add the admin to that group to begin with. The only credentials you need to successfully connect remotely are being part of the Remote Desktop Users group OR Administrators group.
This is kind of like the premission "manage printer" or manage documents. Administrator by default has premission to do just about everything accept control the root domain if hes not it.
besides that make sure you have Remote desktop checked/enabled in system properties, remote tab on the computer you want to connect too.

also if you still want to be able to login with the remote desktop users group go to start>run, type “secpol.msc”, and press enter
go to Local Policies, >User Rights Assignment. find “Allow logon through Terminal Services” and make sure that “Administrators” and “Remote Desktop Users” are in the list. If they aren’t, click “Add User or Group”, and add the user. Then click “Apply
