Real quick test before the real action (3DMark05). 3233 MHz isn't the limit of the CPU but I should have spent more time tweaking the system, I think mobo/graphics card was holding us back. Radeon X850 XT PE running at default.
edit: ORB update and now it's offical: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?pcm04=2961306
I think we'll get more deep into this after I get back from Computex 2005.

Congrats very cool! :toast: Lookin forward to 3D results. :)
imho this "WR" thing is pretty much out of hand, everyone wants to have some kind of WR
:p:
Seriously though, good job. I can see the X2 chips potentially making the FX series into a lame duck.

Yes in PCMark04 which benefits ALOT from HyperThreading/SMP but in games which doesn't support HT/SMP FX-55 is the best choice.

But considering your clocks there are in the same ball park as phase cooled FX-55s there is potential there for them to tread on the FX series toes in general.
AWESOME!!

sampsa but what is going to happen when games comes multithreaded??? they are going to run a lot faster in any athlon64 x 2 so you have a chip that perfoms great now and will perfom better with time :D

wow, big congratulations on PCmark04 WR Sampsa. will A64 X2 4800+ work with Asus A8V deluxe?
Very impressive - great score. Now Intel is also de-throned form that benchmark...

I'd like to see an Intel Dual core on liquid nitrogen and HT off before committing to that statement. The two Intel systems both had hyperthreading on which makes PCmark04 run slower.
I still like my setup though. With 8276 points on water.....

Yes, more tests will be done when I get back from Computex 2005. I've been working my ass off with Dual Core Review for my site: Muropaketti.com (http://www.soneraplaza.fi/tietokoneet/artikkeli/0,2998,h-9102_a-286540,00.html)

So turning HT off from Pentium EE 840 makes it better in PCMark04?
dimcar
05-23-2005, 11:55 PM
Yes, a lot better, between 5-10%. From what i have seen, when HT is on, at 4,7-4,8Ghz, the CPU finds it difficult to "sync" all 4 threads. The bars at the 2 first tests have a very strange movement. But when HT is off, it works absolutely perfect. I have seen the same behaviour with WorldBench also, where EE is faster with HT off.

Ok, so 5 GHz should score around 9500 and 5,5 GHz could make 10000.

I will post my results tomorrow. The only thing is that Futuremark doens't leave me publish the results...

Maybe it's because the CPU is now Pentium D and those CPUs aren't launched yet. (Intel has so far only launched Pentium EE 840).

That's about 300mhz less than my 55 hits or maybe 300-400 less than what the 57 will hit. Can the X2 make up the difference in performance without chilling?

Umm, the x2 is dual core. Therefore it's recognized as 2 logical procs. There's no way in hell that a single 55 or 57 for that matter will even touch the x2's scores in PCMark... ;)

shoudln't 2Mb on a64 own superpi? :stick:
It's 1MB per core. Unless the program runs multible threads, it will only use one core.
Just realised that Sampsa was knocked off the pcmark04 top spot :( . Any ideas why the 4600+ (with 512kb less cache) scored higher than its 1mb counterpart?

Sorry if a liitle off topic......Fugger, not sure if you have been asked this before, but on the main page of xtremesystems, it says that there is a mod for Vapochill coming soon. I have been patiently waiting and checking back for over a week now. Can you give a little insight when we might expect this mod? Reason being is that I recently sold my FX55 and both 6800 u's and awaiting x2 4800 and G7800 GTx's (not yet released). This would be one of the best things that could happen to anyone owning a Vapo (if of course it did not impact stability due to lots of additional condensation and other unforseen implications. Thanks in advance.
